"Boateng isn't a right back'

The biggest problem we may get with Boateng is that his best position may not be the best for the team, and him being so versatile could effect stability if Bobby changes his position every week.
Micah has to work damned hard now if he wants a starting spot because from watching Boateng through the World Cup to now he makes defending look easy.

Great problem to have.

I think the way Mancini is getting everyone to play in different positions and be versatile may consign to the dustbin labelling players for certain positions with the exception of goalkeeper.

In future

Defence
Midfield
Attack

will be the only three ways of describing our players.

Just a thought.

Just made this point in Billy's thread i think Boateng needs to play right back the quality of that delivery for Barry's opener was awesome and we would not got the same from Micah.

this is exactly why mancini switched richards and boateng, richards was getting in some great positions early on but was not delivering the final ball

i can see boateng starting at right back, i think kolo will partner kompany with kolorov at left back
full backs need to be able to play a bit and even though micha has looked better this pre season i still don't think he has the final ball in his locker, this is why he will be kept out of the side by boateng

city scored more goals than anyone else from set pieces last season (?) I can see JB scoring a few this year and lets not forget Kolarov from direct free kicks..can't wait
kolorovs delivery is going to be very important for us this season, he does look very impressive from what we have seen so far

boateng wiil start at right back because no defender is going to stop his thundering runs up the wing and his deliver is world class ctid

Boateng looks class. But does anyone know if crosses such as the one last night are the norm for Boateng? Is he genuinely a good crosser, or was that just one in a million? I have no idea to be honest. Before last night, i'd only seen him play for Hamburg v Fulham last season and then in the World Cup, so can anyone who's seen much more of him fill me in on his crossing ability? The guy really excites me though. He's composed, uses both feet, has a bit of skill when he needs it, has good pace for such a big unit, is aggressive in the tackle, can play across the whole back 4, is a full International, and is only 21. Looking good.
