Bob Dylan

was brought up listening to Dylan as my dad is a massive fan (he was at the freetrade hall in 66). In my youthful foolishness I once told him Dylan was crap. He informed me I was an idiot that Dylan was his generations voice and that I should appreciate him more. That night he brought back a chippy supper and seemed to forget what I ordered while everyone else got exactly what they asked for but my steak pudding was somehow forgotten. Did learn to appreciate him as blood on the tracks is one of the albums I always listen to.

Never get tired of BOTT ……..

I remember at college, the "Dylan" disciples were the most boring & tedious fuckers, always smoking dope and going on about what seemed like meaningless shit.

I remember early 70's buying the triple album "Yessongs" and I had one of them telling me I was a fucking brainless sheep following the masses into the dip, and paying for it....or something. "Listen to Dylan man" he kept saying.

He was the one who at end of year exams (quite an important one for one's career) he walked out after 5 minutes, I asked him later why he walked, he said "I just got pissed off" with "the system" and wrote "the answer is blowin in the wind" on his answer sheet.

:-)

Sounds like a cock.

Some of the recent releases are jaw droppingly good. Shadow Kingdom is just phenomenal. The Complete Budokan sounds amazing. And Springtime in New York totally addictive.

The two constants in my life, City and Dylan. I couldn't live without either.
Sounds like the recent stuff is worth a listen. Not always the case - take Paul McCartney for example, a brilliant songwriter that became quickly more wank with the passage of time. I'll listen to some late Dylan and will either acknowledge it's greatness or return to call you all cunts if the scruffy tramp is still crap.

Just a quick thread bump and a thank you to the Dylan fans that pointed me in the direction of some of his stronger and more recent output. I took a good bit of time to listen (several times) to Shadow Kingdom, The Complete Budokan and Springtime in New York.
What a load of fucking wank.
