Bobby,don't bin Nigel please.

I understand what you're saying but we have a lot of fixtures ahead of us and everyone will see some playing time regardless

Funny how one admittedly sensational performance makes some people forget just how indispensable NDJ is to us.

He's our leader on the pitch and in his role he's in the top 2 or 3 in the world.

We're not gonna win many away games by 4 clear goals you know

By role do you mean the holding midfielder position or his particular duties? Because he isn't the second best defensive midfielder in the world, but I would argue at his job on the pitch he may well be.

I mean in the traditional water carrier role, win the ball, pass to a blue shirt, make space, receive ball and repeat.

And his passing is better than he gets credit for

I could repeat your first sentence and replace Gareth Barry's name in there.

Because, pre-season, it was probably the same people on here who were saying that Barry would never get a game.

Absolutely ludicrous.

Both are outstanding, severely underestimated players and both will remain vital to this team's success over the next few years.

I'm looking forward to seeing him "unleashed" just like Barry has been with our more adventurous style. Or will he be made to sit back still when he plays so Yaya (who is sitting back a lot now) can burst forward more again? Yaya is playing brilliant in his holding role but I already miss his amazing runs. :)

I've been relieved to see in the last couple of games that we aren't as reliant on de Jong as I thought we were, he'll still be vital in a lot of games though.

Doubt he is able to be "unleashed," he is much more suited to his defensive position, but I agree if he stayed in Yaya's new spot then Yaya could move forward a bit more on occasion

Suspicious why we've not heard much about his injury. In Bobby we trust, but hope he is fit soon and on a new contract
