Bobby,don't bin Nigel please.

Football is all about scoring goals , and giving the opposition more problems than they can give you ...... do both of those and the defending and conceding you'll be doing will be at a minimal.

Mancini is now thankfully realising this , and is now actually playing players who can achieve it ........ and he would be foolhardy not to , given the amount of attacking talent now at his disposal ...... goals win games , and the more of them we get , the more games we'll win ..... and winning more games will almost certainly result in us winning titles!

De Jong is a very competent and popular player , but Mancini must surely now recognize that you can't flood a club side with too many 'holding players in this country , and achieve the success that both he , and we , desire ....... there HAS to be a balance with creativity.

NDJ is in the same position as Tevez if he stays. No one is a guarenteed a start with our squad as every player is of a high quality. All will play at some point as we will be going for 4 competitions.

great description. This is exactly the opposite way of how we italians see how to win football titles ;)

Yeah , it really is a case of two different styles of football ......

Milan won the Italian title last season by conceding 13 goals LESS than the english champions , who shall remain nameless ....... but the english champions also scored 13 MORE goals than a Milan side , who weren't even top scorers in their own country!

So it does prove your point ..... Milans style HAS brought them success in Italy , and certainly in Europe too ..... but maybe Mancini is now realising that Itailan tactics will actually struggle to win titles in this country , and he's GOT to be that bit more adventurous.

for me NDJ is THE main reason we got this negative tag last year. dont get me wrong he's great at what he does but personally i'd rather see us line up with a more attacking side. when he plays its literally like playing with 3 centre halfs.

I think its a mistake to think that yesterday's line up is now our first choice XI and the rest of the squad have been consigned to domestic cups and the odd game agaist norwich or QPR.

We play at United, Liverpool & Chelsea the weekend after massive CL games. We're not going to be putting out the same teams for those games even though they're equally important.

I am a fan of De jong but he shouldnt play in a midfield 3 with milner, barrry and yaya the formation yesterday would suit him imo opinion as he could just stay back protecting the back 4 and let the the other 5 players attack.

The reason is because we played an extra holding midfielder than we do now at the expense of a creative midfielder (that we didn't have).

So if we played NDJ/Yaya as our "holding midfielders" (with one allowed to push forward more like Barry is in the Barry/Yaya combination) then Yaya would probably push forward and NDJ would do what Yaya is now.

It was something a few of us flagged up a year ago and got wildly abused for it.

NDJ is great at what he does but when we've got the ball he slows things down and allows their midfield to get back on the right side of our midfield.

The flowing football we are playing would not happen if NDJ and Tevez were in the side because one touch football is not their game.

When we play United away I'd advocate using him but, apart from that, I just think we're better off with what we have been seeing for this last two and a half games.
