Bodo/Glimt (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

with bad result vs Galata we need to hope no serious clubs finish 21-22-23-24th places. as finishing 9-10-11-12 places will get us one of those. you never know could be likes of Monaco, Napoli, Bodo, PSV, Benfica most liekly in a playoff tie to get extra tired and more injuries etc.
I dont think we finish lower than 12th position unless we lose to Galata and others start to overtake us badly. we shouldnt even worry about this but here we are.

then if we keep them and tey keep playing this keeps happening.

Our worst performances and runs of form both last season and this season have been with Lewis in the team (last season) and both of them in the team this season

this aint a coincidence...go back and look when we were struggling last season.....An aged Gundo and KDB with Lewis as well in midfield or fullback or midfield...go look at the goals we conceeded.....the same thing all the time....our midfield or fullback or both unable to recover.......same now
We have played Haaland in each game.
We played Rodri in each game.
We could go on and on and on.
There are obvious deficiencies but not to those who only look in one place

Thank yourself so lucky to have witnessed most probably the best team in premier league history 100 point 4 in a row treble domestic treble and some of the best football by world class players. The current crop of players not just city but right across the board are just not good enough and not a patch on players gone by. The game to watch now is shocking especially with VAR shit. We will get better and win trophies but players are like robots now with no creativity which was evident today when we needed a goal

It’s become very noticeable very quickly that we have too many players that can’t run.
Too slow and a lack of intensity.

Get Marmoush and Semenyo on V Wolves, they should be able to help with that

Depending on results in this round a win against Galatasary may not be enough for top 8 and means another 2 games!

Yep..
Somebody needs to point out and question the lack of effort attitude fight against one of the lowest ranking teams in europe, Their Keeper didnt need to make a save really ? the city goal took a deflection and he had no chance

The problem as I see it is Pep has one way of playing and will not change irrespective of the players available. The last two games have been abysmal. About this time last season he dropped Foden, Haaland got injured and Bernie was burnt out. Pep was forced to play Kovacic, Marmoush, Nico G…guess what, we looked harder to beat and went on a long winning run, Pep probably hated every minute of it and shoe horned a half fit Haaland back in at Southampton and we drew a blank and lost the cup final. I still think we will be ok when we get our injured players back, be ok as in top four and probably another domestic cup final.

Because the same players won’t always be available Pep needs a plan B, but he’d rather we lost than go against his principles.
Reminds me of a recent incumbent at trafford

I know you're being sarcastic. But let me reply seriously and equably. I'm an Akanji fan. Goodish defender, most of the time. Not a patch on either Ake or Stones at their height. Not comparable. But the problem is, what's the point in having defenders who were once great and who are now permanently crocked?
Exactly...

If you have your defence out injured, to play a high line with inexperienced players is both irresponsible and asking for trouble. This is the second game on the trot we've played it and we've been absolutely battered again. Against United and Bodo both games could've quite easily been 6-0 against us. If Pep cannot adjust the tactics to suit the players, and he can only play one way then he needs to think about his position. If we have to wait until Dias, Nunes, Stones and Gvardiol and Rodri are back until we have a defence then we simply will not win anything.

I feel incredibly sorry for Alleyne, Khusanov and Lewis as they are getting absolutely hung out to dry by a manager who's unable to see - clear as day - they cannot play the system he wants, too far up the pitch. Neither, it's got to be said, can his preferred back line either.

I genuinely don't understand what is going on at the club. Every player is either injured or completely and utterly exhausted. The level of energy we put into these games is laughable. Slow, ponderous, backwards passing and very little threat and then we're completely amazed when the opposition have good, fast runners who press us. Pep doesn't seem to have any ideas and quite frankly, despite some decent performances this year we don't look any closer to getting back to our peak.

Tomorrow, Pep needs summoning to the office and grilling about what his plans are. We look rudderless this season and quite honestly we're going to struggle against a LOT of teams this season who just have runners with pace. It's astonishing to think that whilst we're being linked with Anderson, Wharton etc the type of player we really need is someone like Onana at Villa - a big fucker who can run.

Totally pissed off with the management after the last couple of games. It's time for Pep to either man up and sort this mess out - we aren't getting our back line back next weekend so if he continues playing the system he is with the players he is, we'll get beat. It's simple - every fan can see it.
LOL…. Like that’s going to happen

What complacency to start a left back in a right wing role and to essentially play two young guys on their own at the back against a counterattacking side. Such a poor set up from the start, This is ALL in the coaching staff, not going to blame any one player.
Pep had no choice but play the two young center half's. Ake can't play two games in a row. There is no one else. Alleyn was at fault for the first two goals.

It’s an absolute mystery how every team looks faster/stronger/more committed than our players. Opposition players just brush off our players, run through our challenges, create numerous chances while, when we are in possession it takes about 300 passes to carve out a corner.
Been saying this for a long time…..football has changed and we look physically inferior to most of the opposition.

Previously we could overcome this with our superior ability, technique and possession.

We have made a good start in trying to rectify this with the last two signings but are still painfully too lightweight in midfield…..the most important area on the pitch.

not total but you can only use what you have...

when you look at the bigger picture there arent a lot of solutions available

Who does he play at right back? - that should have been sorted in the summer

The centre half situation - should have been sorted in the summer -the Stones and Ake situations were literally predicted

No left back and then buying one who doesnt/wont defend and we still need one more

The Rodri situation came about nearly two years ago at first.....there is no other midfield options if we dont play Rodri or Nico G - again this was preedicted

Kova was known to be in trouble at the start of the summer....

Anyone who knows anything about football knows that Rico Lewis whether it be in midfield or at fullback aint good enough but we did nothing to replace him and someone at the club inexplicably gave him a contracg extension.....not club in the top half of the league would have him now.....

ALL of this was talked about in the summer by fans on here....not buyign the right players is a failing of the. club as a whole

we wasted money on buying two goalkeepers as well - that aint Pep
Fair comments and I agree with most if not all. But I suspect that pep very much has a say in transfers and he has a “small squad” mantra which maybe isn’t helpful on that front too.

But he’s arguably the best manager ever. Yet still we are incredibly easy to play against. He has to take responsibility for that. He’s the boss. Lots of unavailable players tonight. Be pragmatic. Play a back 5 and keep it tight. Revive the false 9 and prioritise shape and stability?

Depending on results in this round a win against Galatasary may not be enough for top 8 and means another 2 games!
Doesn't mean a thing. If we avoid the play offs we will get our arsed handed at the first decent club we play.

The recent run of results and performances are as bad as the winless period last season. And we've spent a shit load to get back to those levels.

The midfield superiority we had is gone. He is still trying to play slow build-up football. Don't think he will play more direct, he is too stubborn to change his style of play at this age.

Question for Pep

When your back is up against the wall and all hope is lost, revert back to what you know best
Play a false 9, drop Haaland and play your left back at left back

Firstly why the fuck weren’t we in sky blue ? Probably something to do with Soriano acceding to all Puma’s demands just to wring an extra few quid out of the deal.

And to further the Soriano theme - it’s becoming increasingly evident why Cherki, Alt Nouri and Reindeer cost peanuts

It’s awful watching this but I would still not want another person in charge.

I have a problem with the players work ethic and fitness.

Pep is being let down here just like the rest of us. I hope he rips into them all. If not him khaldoon.

Lazy fuckers are an embarrassment to the shirt.

Forget tactics, show some balls and graft.

Far too many think they are the dogs bollox when they have done nothing for city to warrant this.

It’s been coming all season.

Hang em out Pep, we all have your back.

I stopped reading at ‘Forget tactics’
