Agree with all that but let’s face it - Alleyne was a liability, Ait Nouri nowhere to be seen for the first 2 goals, Khusanov has pace and can defend but is a hothead. So yes little protection but they were shit including the keeper for the first goal

They weren't shit - they were hung out AGAIN being asked to play a high line that just wasn't there to be played.
Positives from tonight ................
Things to think about:
Stop playing the defence over the fuckin halfway line when we're going forward
Get someone in alongside Rodri (who clearly isn't anywhere near full tilt)
Drop Phil - not his fault, but we can't keep trying to play himself into form
And the HUGE elephant in the room - get forward quicker and cross/shoot. We started doing that Oct/Nov and it gave teams other things to think about, we've since reverted to type.
They clearly looked at the weekend and saw our soft spots - we literally gave them the playbook and they executed it to a T

Too slow and a lack of intensity.

Get Marmoush and Semenyo on V Wolves, they should be able to help with that

Yea, huuuuuuuuuuge issue in our team is the lack of running power and physicality of our midfield.

We have played Haaland in each game.
We played Rodri in each game.
We could go on and on and on.
There are obvious deficiencies but not to those who only look in one place

we certainly have played Rodri in many of those games last season or this season......

Rico was taken out of the team last year and we started to play better.....

Reijnders was taken out of the team for a bit this season and our form improved......


They are two huge weaknesses every time either one of them plays or both play

yes there are others....both fullbacks are an issue....

yes we have no one to play next to rodri

But you have to shift out your weak players......these two are part of the problem

Alt Nouri could become a significant third issue as well

Our transfer activity has been largely underwhelming and over the course of a season it shows.

Until we get serious in the market and bring in real quality that is up for the rigors of 4 competitions we will struggle and stutter.

We have the resources and shown in the past we can revamp the squad and be a force that is feared we just let it linger for too long and run the squad dry to its last gasp are now paying the price for that.

I never believed even if we had a fully fit squad they would be capable of making much progress in this competition and so it will pan out this season.

We lack guile , pace , strength, basic skills and above all fight and mental fortitude losing most 50/50's and it will get worse before it better but when you don't replace like for like or better still like for better its inevitable you will go backwards and that is where we are now.

Provided we get the right players in their right positions we will be back sooner than some will think but it will take another season or two for us to start getting more difficult to get any point off.

Today as has been the case on many occasions in the past 18 months we were a shambles way to easy to play against as soon as we lose possession.

problem with Marmoush is that he doesnt fit the team......he cant play the Haaland role on his own and you can pay him central with Haaland as it unbalances the team...and he is no good wide

I am sick of players passing the ball sideways and back when they needed to pass forward to score.
