Bodo/Glimt (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

The players need to face up to this amongst themselves and take responsibility and work out what will change. They then need to do the same with Pep and have the courage to tell him straight not only what they will do, but who he must do also.

Pep set the team up wrong, no balance and a poor game plan we yet again lacked desire and belief, we need to mix things up more at times be more direct and FFS get some early balls in the box be progressive far to many players first instinct is to pass backwards.
The injuries although not an excuse are a factor.
We’ve had worse nights, time to stick together.

Ok so we still need to buy more players? That don’t seem to be the answer. We always need something else for it to work.

The players look awful, unfit and disinterested. Pep looks stressed and the football is stale. We don’t play his philosophy. I don’t know what the fuck is going on but a start world be be to acknowledge the situation. Pep is burying his head in the sand.

He said recently that he has no time to train the players due to games. Hearing this alot and it shows. Players can’t execute a plan they have not practised. It’s drifting unfortunately. Tiredness all the time? Injuries, all part of football. Yes we have had more than our fair share but it’s still not enough to excuse the lack of effort in the recent performances.

Gonna have to go back to basics. Try tweaking. Anything is better than moaning or pretending it’s ok. The results and performances show a decline.

Time the club sort it out before another season goes. Nothing can be quickly fixed but start with defending deeper. The games wouldn’t get away from us so quick.

Time to find our feet again.

Pep fucked about with the Leverkusen lineup and then seemed reluctant to rotate as much after that. Then fatigue & injuries built up, with performances dipping. Add in that the tactics have been shite and you have these last two performances - poor ideas, badly executed by tired players

Anyone see the Haaland interview going on about games coming thick and fast, when asked about tiredness but before that was saying experienced players like Rodri and reindjers should e taking more responsibility, don’t know what to make of this,oh and he apologised for tonight’s result which isn’t acceptable as this is Manchester City ..
Let’s not go down the Manchester United route

Simply put, another powder puff performance.
Feels so stale to me.No I dont want Pep out but his tactics are not suitable for this set of players.
Not 1, simply not 1 coming out with ANY credit.

I have never seen a team with 20 yards of space in front of them literally stop and turn back to play a safe five yard pass!!
Its fucking boring, but more so its not working. If Pep cant see that then yes his position is at risk, whatever so called credit he has.
Haaland is a waste of a shirt along with Foden right now. Zero effort, zero energy.
As for Rico Lewis. Sell him to the highest bidder because if you think he is capable at this level then I can assure you he is not.
Rjeinders is not good enough either.
From Vinny, Zabba,Yaya,Silva,Sane,Sterling,KDB, Aguero,Mahrez to what we have now. Not 1 not fucking 1 are fit to lace there boots.
See you at Wolves
Yes, we might as well push up instead of passing backwards as even then, we will simply pass to an opposing player or be easily dispossessed, leading to yet another counter at pace for our beleaguered backline to contend with.

Every side now does the exact same thing against us, defend deep, crowd the penalty area, give Haaland no room to run into and wait for an opportunity to break at pace into the wide open spaces of our half. We need to develop new tactics. Our tactics have now been sussed and teams are quite happy for us to have 60% possession without getting into the penalty area.
We need goals from other players, from wingers and midfielders, from defenders. If Haaland is the only choice of scoring then this team in huge trouble.

Look at the difference man. Pass and move, pass and move, pass and move - all with movement off the ball from players trying to create angles for those on the ball. Night and day to the shit served up now.

One of my favourite ever goals that - We scored a crazy against Stoke in similar fashion as well when we hit 7. Wow, that was football porn at its best.

Oh for a Fernandinho, Gundog and KDB.......

By the way that's not prime Fernandhinho, Gundog and KDB

That's ageing and on their last legs as even then they would have shown more quality, control, creativity and effort.

Foden would never have gotten away with tonight's performance with Fernandinho on pitch and in dressing room.

Watching Madrid here unable to fathom how we beat them, and they all look so fresh.

Every prem team looks blowing out their arse, particularly us, at this point in the season. This focus on pace and physicality and an ungodly amount of running is killing the English football.
Madrid got knocked out of the cup against lower league opposition last weekend, and five of the players who started for us in Madrid have been or remain injured.

Nunes is a very average midfielder, who has done an average job at RB. I think our acceptance of second rate replacements is part of our problem. We just used try and attract the best around now we’re taking a punt on average players and hoping for the best. Ask yourself a question Nunes or Walker / Tejani or KDB. We have needed a CB and two FB’s and a box to box midfielder but have tried to make do O’reilly & Nunes are not defenders and will be found when it comes to the business end of the season.
How the fuck is Nunes catching strays? Probably player of the season so far.

Surprised nobody's mentioned Savinho yet.

Is that Lewis on the right back btw?

Well that certainly capped off a few really bad days. Embarrassing all round from Pep to the players it’s been totally farcical for the club.

Only the Don can hold his head up high because if it wasn’t for him I’m not sure where the scorelines could have got to.

That dressing room needs to sort itself out and fast. So many players guilty of going to shite since Christmas with no sign of any will or fight to turn things around, that’s probably the worst part of it the players don’t seem to have the drive for it.

I wouldnt say Semenyo is

He is a strong prem player but I wouldnt say high quality.....at present he has his limitations due to the way we play
If he has 'limitations due to the way we play' then they aren't his limitations, they are Pep's.
