Yes I do think it would make a difference. And I agree they shouldn't have to apologise. But imo there needs to be an acceptance of why this is happening. I just dont see that acceptance.

I know its a situation more complex than I'd ever be able to understand, but the main reason people dislike Jewish people imo is because of the actions of the Israel government.

It's the wrong thing without question, innocent Jews arent accountable and shouldn't be held accountable for the actions of a government. But it's the reality.

And it's not all one way, I think we need a total change in mindset from both sides to stop this sort of thing from happening. Absolutely awful.

@moomba made a wonderful post earlier, though I hoped this thread would keep away from politics for at least a day. I utterly condemn the attack on Bondi Beach, just as I did the attack at the Manchester Synagogue.
Already, there has been a lot of talk of radical Islam in this thread. The people carrying out the killing of innocent people are to be held in utter contempt, and I hope that justice is done.
There are 65,000 officially dead Palestinians since October 2023. They have been killed by Israel. The Gaza strip has been levelled, and Israeli spokepeople tell of it being the first phase of a redevelopment project. The west supplies weapons and training to Israel in support of that, and of a near 80-year seizure of land, homes and life.
If that is allowed to continue, there will always be terrorist attacks, just as there were in England when the British army occupied Ireland. Israel MUST be sanctioned AND Netanyahu brought to justice in the International courts. Only then will there be ANY hope, and I say this under the presumption that the perpetrators of this heinous and cowardly attack did so in the name of their religion.

It's fairly well-established that spikes in antisemitic attacks around the world tend to occur during escalations in the conflict. Muslim antisemitism, I would argue, is almost entirely due to the propaganda put out across the Muslim world as a result of the opposition to Israel, rather than the sort of pre-WW2 antisemitism you had in Europe. Like most bigotry, it's probably not particularly nuanced, but make no mistake, if someone has grown up in a Muslim country, they have almost certainly been taught their entire life that Israel is the devil, with very little distinction made between Israel and the wider Jewish population.

For the record, Israel should stop atrocities because it's the right thing to do, not to pander to a bunch of bigoted extremists.

All ideologies have a stance where they think that their way is the only way and everyone else is wrong. They are supremacist outlooks. To Abrahamic religions everyone else are kāfirs, infadels, goyims or heathens and to whoever it is who uses whichever word, those people described are seen wrong in everything they believe in and the way they live their lives, and within their books it tells the followers to kill them numerous numerous numerous times. So what do the fanatics do?

Agree completely. We suffer because of the actions of our governments. The Warrington bombing being a prime example. People in Warrington were in no way part of the “Irish Problem” just like the people in Bondi were in no way part part of the “Gaza Problem”. My heart goes out to all and anyone who has got “caught up” in these and countless other “problems”. My hope is that as a race, the human race, we just try and be kinder to each and everyone of us. I would say, no, it’s not a different strain. Everything the salfists and wahhabists believe in is all there in the Quran, they aren’t making it up off the top of their heads, they are following instructions from their book.

All the Abrahamic religious books are a fucking disgrace. The only thing that stops most people who follow any of them from being murdering cunts are their humanist ideals that stop them taking their bullshit religious books literally.

The Abrahamic religions need a complete reformation, secularisation and modernisation of their books. Especially the Quran, which hasn’t changed in 1400 years. The Bible has had many reformed and deleted editions, so why not the Quran?

The wording when describing unbelievers, the historicity, the scientific accuracy and especially the murderous instructions… all need analising and reforming.

The first thing I would do is classify all world religions as ‘mythologies’. We call the old Germanic religion ‘Norse mythology’, we call the old Hellenic religion ‘Greek mythology’, it’s time that the world widely classify Judaism, Christianity and Islam as ‘Abrahamic mythologies’.

It might make future generations take it all as seriously as everyone should… like we don’t believe in orks, elves, dawrfs, hobbits, magic rings and understand that Lord of the Rings isn’t real.

It needs leaders of the religions to be held to account to prove the bullshit in their books actually happened. If there’s no historicity or scientific accuracy, there should be a disclaimer at the start of the chapter that those passages are myths. All extremist language and murderous instruction should be deleted.

As bad as the Israeli govt’s actions in Gaza and West Bank are, the Islamist extremists don’t need the excuse of the Israeli govt’s actions to justify their murdering of Jews, and they don’t need the excuse of the West interfering with the Midfle East or North Africa to justify their terrorist attacks on the West, because it’s not just Jews and the West that they target.

Over 85% of all Islamist terrorism targets other Muslims. Muslims who don’t quite follow the same kind of Islam or aren’t as extreme as the Taliban in Afghanistan, as Boko Haram in Nigeria, as Jemaah Islamiyah in Indonesia and all across the Islamic world where there are dozens of Islamist terrorist groups and there have been all the way back to the Kharijites in the 600s, are frequently targeted and killed by those groups.

So it’s not necessarily about Jews or Judaism or Israel, the problem is the Islamist terrorists and Islam being out of date in the modern world in general.

We don’t have a problem with terrosim with Sikhs in Britain, nor Buddhists or atheists of the Chinese community, but we have constant reminders that we are only streets away from an Islamist terrorist. And that’s true wherever Islam is around the world.
