Bondi terror attack

Bbc reporting 9 killed.

What a sick place the world can be.

Sincere condolences to those affected.
"What a sick place the world can be"
There are lots of places in the world, an lots of people and cultures, who don't go around repeatedly murdering innocents because of their faith.

The world isn't perfect, but don't use that to excuse pure evil, and those who propagate it.

Ideally at this stage nobody knows for certain the motives of the attackers.

All we know is Jewish people celebrating Hannukah on Bondi beach have been fired upon and there are many casualties. *tongue firmly placed in cheek*

If Jewish people are celebrating Hannukah and somebody is firing at them it's a religious motive terror attack. Simple

Religious/sectarian hatred enforced by gun culture must be stopped in its tracks. America has some blame here currently, though they by no means invented this.
Aside from the horrendousness…

From the vids, it looks like shotguns (shell cases on the ground), which with the Aus gun laws (no ar-15’s etc), would indicate a rural origin of the guns - whether stolen or legitimately obtained is presumably to be determined.
If they were legitimately bought, then that’s a massive failing in enforcement of the gun laws - I’d expect (good) stricter rules and checks to be brought in.
If stolen, not sure what can be done, other than further investigation/tracking of the serial numbers, to see where stolen from and how

Police response was fucking inadequate to say the least 10 minutes plus shooting from the bridge. Some poor copper with a pistol trying to do their best.
Then you have a guy nearly getting shot dead trying to check if the shooters were alive still.

Fucking scumbags rot in hell your lives were pointless and rest in peace to the poor victims and thoughts with their families. The fallout from this will be big in Australia.

Really hope the bloke that disarmed one of the cunts is ok. He’s a fucking hero.

I’m sure many of us that have seen the footage have questioned if we’d do the same and hope we would - but when it’s one’s life on the line then I’m not sure I’d be able to show the courage he did.
Balls of steel. Pretty sure I’d have been on my toes to be honest.

Thoughts with all those who have been killed and injured.

Their gun laws have been very strict since the Port Arthur massacre. Stolen would be my guess. I'm not religious, so my thoughts are with the victims and their families.

Religion causes so many of the world’s problems and it’s crazy that people still believe in these imaginary friends in 2025. So many young footballers seem to be captured by it too which I find strange when I watch them.

In my view religions were clearly just a way for primitive civilizations to explain things that they couldn’t comprehend at that point in time. We obviously have science nowadays so don’t need to invent gods to make sense of the world yet here we are in 2025 with people thinking it’s justification for murder or that their fairy tale is more important than another fairy tale. Madness.
