Bony (Season long loan at Stoke - Official)

I imagine City probably would be open to the idea of Bony returning to Swansea if we could recoup most of our money, as it's not really worked out for him here.

Just can't think who we could replace him with in this window who would be eligible for Europe.

We're already short of striking options, and there's no way we're going to weaken the squad whilst we're fighting on four fronts.

I don't get The notion that we need 4 strikers when for the majority we only play 1 and most of us feel that our 3 choice striker isn't getting enough game time. I believe we are in the process of setting the foundations of pep's arrival and next season and that's why I see Bony leaving now and being replaced by Isco more logical as our forward line will be Messi, Kun and Kelechi and Messi isn't available now.

Similar amount of goals to Martial over there. People rave about Martial and Bony is having a "nightmare" season. These types of strikers (Bony, Benteke, Carroll) the big, stationary forwards are not suited to footballing teams. Us and especially Liverpool have tried to get them in, but it has never really worked out for the player. Why buy a guy who's game is to be a target to get the team up the field quickly and then try and make them play as a link man. Swansea and Villa are the clubs where these guys flourish.

I like Bony, he is a bit lazy and has missed some absolute sitters, but he is strong and capable within his abilities. He is never going to be a Sergio and take players on. For 20m he has done ok with limited game time in a system that isn't suited to him.

I think we would see the best of Bony in Champions league, where we don't have the ball as much. He'd hold the ball up and allow the forward players get up the pitch. Don't think we'll see him in those games though. We aren't capable of out passing the cream of Europe. Having Bony as a focal point might allow us to sit deep and play for a draw in the away legs.

Don't use stats to try to justify him, our eyes don't lie. He has been poor and 8 goals in 1107 minutes is far from impressive. Especially considering Nacho has 5 goals in 170 minutes.

These big, stationary and technically unassured strikers really have no place at this level. There's a reason Carroll was a flop and Benteke has been woeful for Liverpool. We simply brought the hype with Bony and are now left with a player that doesn't offer us much outside of a good header and hold up play. You say he's good within his 'abilities' but the issue is his abilities are extremely limited. For Bony to succeed, you need to build a system of play that fits his limited abilites. At this club, I don't see how he will ever come close to justifying his fee.

8 goals in 12 full games or so is actually a top class output for a striker. Even Aguero and Henry run at about a goal every 110 minutes or so I'd say. Bony is around 140. That translates into a full 38 game season as around the 25 goal mark. Some of the expectations on here are ridiculous.

Completely declined. Sad state of affairs but by the noises coming out of Brazil he'd struggle in the championship.
Thought he'd had a good last season? Scoring ~26/27 goals, and starting to look like the "old Pato"? Haven't seen him play myself, granted. But for €15m, he might be worth a punt.

Not what I've heard. I know his club seem desperate to flog him as well.
