Boooom

Correct me if I'm wrong but Manchester is quiet a commute from Catalonia...................

La Republica are a Turin based media outlet. Bang goes that dream.

“The purchase of a villa in Barcelona is in no way related to footballing matters,” said the company's director general, as reported by La Repubblica. “It is purely an estate investment.

“We wish to state this publicly because our client is a famous footballer and under great media attention in this period, so that this operation will certainly be reported by the Spanish newspapers, fuelling journalistic speculation that we do not wish to encourage.

“The same thing happened a few weeks ago with Lionel Messi, who purchased an attic in Paris through us, or Cristiano Ronaldo who bought an attic in New York.”

The real estate company. I bet our players have houses all over Europe, doesn't mean they are moving.

How do you know this PB?
I am strictly an observer and I have zero connections whatsoever; just a 47 year old fan for 44 years.
Well you never know with transfers as there have been a few that we've been very close to doing but that have fallen through at the last minute for one reason or another. But it wouldn't come as a shock if we got Gundogan, Laporte & Stones as all these appear to be pretty well done. Sane also seems to have been well trailed. None of these appear to be either/or buys, so it's not like it's one of Laporte or Stones. That's £140-150m for starters.

We know about Pogba, who'd probably cost us something close to £100m plus there appears to be another very big deal in the pipeline that we've been working on intensively for a while. If we pull off just one of those we could be looking at £250-300m and £400m if we pull off both. And then there's the left back position with Danny Rose in possibly in the frame. So that's another £35m or so at a guess.

It seems that the club are prepared to sanction that level of spend as they weren't happy with last season (and that's being kind) plus I'd guess they feel they need to give Pep the best possible chance of success. There could be a lot of competition for those top four spots next season and we not only have to be there but have to leave any opposition trailing in our wake.

2 bad seasons in a row, we can't really afford a third poor season - that's certainly not what ADUG/Mansour are looking for.

I'm still holding out hope we can add Aubameyang to that transfer list Prestwich_Blue!;) If we got him, the need for Sane wouldnt be so great!;)

I'm With you, I see signing Aubameyang as killing two birds with one stone he can function as the back up striker as well as the right wing, would be a brilliant piece of work by Txiki if we could get him

Cheers for t'info. If even half of what you're suggesting is in the works comes off it will be a good window; Gundogan, Laporte & Stones are 3 quality signings alone (although we obviously do need more).

Personally would be amazed if we hit the £300m spend, imagine the players that would push it that high are so expensive because they're extremely hard to purchase so I'd imagine they're unlikely to happen, but worth a punt. Gundogan (20m), Stones (40m), Laporte (40m), Sane (40m) is £140m, plus Rose even at £35m (geez) ups that to £175m - to then spend another £125m would be impressive, even Pogba thrown in only hits £~275m. That's already 5 players (ignoring Pogba), I find it hard to believe we'd get more than 5 of our targets in one window (but am happy to be pleasantly surprised if we do!).

There must be a huge clear out if this is true, especially when you consider Soriano's comments about the squad size.

This ^.
We cannot expect a group of more than 16/17 quality first team "starters", with the rest made up from emerging talent or talented new purchases.
There's got to be a limit in mind.
