We had a border collie, and a cat. The dog was the 'proper' type- she was born on a farm in Wales, and as youngster her sheep dog instincts would be liable to kick in- I'll never forget the day she attempted to herd up some toddlers in heaton park, to the great irritation of all concerned.

Initially there was a bit of a fracas when introductions were made, but border collies are generally very bright- and she learned pretty quickly that every time there was a fight, the smaller, faster cat, and it's penchant for jumping on tables and sideboards, invariably escaped the situation with more of it's dignity intact. She gave up in the end, and a truce was called. :)

Thanks goat boy.

In a way that is going on here I think. The cat is now standing his ground and Gwen averts her face when she sees him. She still wants to "get" him I think but she is learning.

She's gorgeous. Collies are so intelligent and she'll soon settle down with him. Shadow, my boy, is spotty as well, when I work out how to post his picture I'll put it on.

Sussed it - here he is, complete with his City collar (not that you can see it!)

I have two Border Collies (used to have three) and they are great dogs. One of mine hates Cats so we couldn't have one.

The only thing I would say is watch her with kids, Collies tend to nip at them. I keep mine away from kids at all costs!

I will definately have BC's again though, when the time comes.

Cheers Steve.

And Sue....your Collie is a darling! My last one was a dog too (Charlie). Shadow has VERY similar markings to Gwen. The Blue Merle is lovely isn't it? I wanted to call Gwen "Blue" but was outvoted. :-(

Does Shadow have the odd eyes? Gwen doesn't.

Great news!

Gwen and Merlin are getting along!!

Merlin has stood his ground and came into the front room tonight. Gwen is a sweetie with him.

This is great!
