I was replying to this post....

Usually stay well away from politics but since Boris Johnson has been seriously ill in hospital the one thing I've seen a lot online is "I dont like him but..." and that for me sums up the whole problem.

It doesn't matter one little bit if you like the guy or not, he is the fucking prime minister and we do as he says. He's not there to be popular, he's there to lead us. If everyone(and I mean everyone!) had listened to him 4 weeks ago, the situation would be nowhere near as bad now. But too many people had the attitude "dont like Boris Johnson so why should I do what he wants" and this has really not helped. I'm not saying that everyone who doesnt like him didn't listen to him, but I've no doubt that if he was universally loved and respected, more people would have behaved their fucking selves.

I've had bosses at work I didn't like, but when they ask you to do something you do it. It's never really been fashionable to like the prime minister, but in my opinion too many people let that get in the way, instead of going along with him, especially in the early days.

Anyway, rant over. Get well soon Boris.

I'm no fan of this government but I'm following their advice and yes I want Johnson to get better, but history is being re-written faster than it can be rebutted by the facts. The right wing media and the right wingers in here, are accusing anyone they don't like of playing politics with this virus, all the time playing politics with it themselves.

The fact that Johnson is ill does not make him a saint and it doesn't mean he was doing a top notch job before he fell ill, he wasn't and the facts bear that out, and against a tide of right wing propaganda it is essential we remember that, so we don't forget to learn the right lessons from this shit show when it's over.

Hard to argue with that really.

The vast majority(I didn’t read any pulled posts) wish him a speedy recovery. Whether you are Boris the PM Beryl the nurse or Brian the supermarket worker fingers are crossed. The news appear to be positive for him if they are accurate.

A stain on the forum that we can’t have a thread open when our pm is in intensive care. That is not an attack at the mods but the people who can’t refrain from kicking him when he is down.

Cheered me up waking up to the news. You can do this Boris.

At the next blue moon meet up I am gong to wear my Boris hoodie and later take it off and reveal my Carole baskin did it t shirt. Happier days will come for us all.

Of course we can have a thread open. You might not like Boris being criticised but you'll get over it. Not everywhere has to be a safe space.
