Boris Johnson

I believe the Tory-UKIP wing is completely unaware of how unpopular their 'vision' now is in the country at large.

Their only asset is that younger people often choose not to vote.
I can believe they're giving up on re-election. Inflation is NOT coming to heel, and even if it had, the mortgage situation meant that was an outside bet at best. It's now about their seat.

Boats are coming - they are now looking at housing people in camps on former military bases that are mostly in leafy farming Tory constituencies - its all going swimmingly

PMQ today?

"If he hadn't had another unbreakable engagement, would the Prime Minister have voted to support the Privileges Committee? (And I remind him what happens to Prime Ministers who tell lies.)"

answer.......whatever........ Starmer...... we will leave that there for now......those bear traps kinda make themselves at the moment

Bizarrely the MP for Grimsby and Lord Snooty abstained despite their bluster.
4 out of 5 tory MP's abstained from the vote.

I don't know how their consituents feel about it, but it is a bizarre situation when the most immoral PM in our history, probably worse than Lloyd George, has tory MP's so cowered and scared, they can't do the decent thing and admit he was a lying twat that mislead the House and the country, and a tory PM that has been conspicuous by his absence is no better.

Decent principles of honesty and integrity in public office, which were a given years ago, have been well and truly shattered by this government. Oh, how his supporters rallied around to defend him. Lie after lie after lie, which we all knew was the case, but we had to watch the likes of Michael Gove or JRM telling equal fibs defending him.

They are so out of tune with morals, it wasn't that long ago a Minister stood up in Parliament and said it was OK for the UK to break the law in a limited but specific way, and Johnson himself said he signed the withdrawl agreement with no intention of honouring it.

With ethics like that at the heart of our government, when honesty and integrity, morals you tell your children to adhere to, are being wiped off the slate so readily, we shouldn't expect anything but the lowest standards, and that is what we have, unfortunately.

If you believe in honesty, the tory party are the antithesis of that.

I distinguish between the pragmatic Tories and the UKIP Tories. The former are about getting reelected and they would (for example) move the join the EU tomorrow if they calculated it would win more votes/seats. If you trace the history of the Tories over many years you will see they have often trimmed to the wind and changed their positions from one to another on a very regular basis. (The Daily Mail, of course, always support the revised edition.)

The latter are idealogues who think everyone agrees with them apart from 'lefties'. They are driven by their obsession with certain issues and don't really have a pragmatic bone in their bodies. They are the equivalent of those on the left who think Trotsky is wildly admired by the working class and that revolution could come tomorrow.
