Regardless of how you think of BJ, does anyone think Putin would have acted like he has if Boris and Trump had been at the helm of the Western World? I’m not questioning their politics or trying to defend them, just curious to what others think.

Putin let off a chemical weapon on British soil that harmed civilians. He doesn't give a shit about Boris. Ukraine would definitely be different if Trump was still in power but I'm not sure how different.

Agreed - Boris was only relevant in Boris’s head - Trump on the other hand did have a big enough punch to change things but like you not sure who, metaphorically, he would’ve knocked out

If Trump was president, Russia would have won the war a long time ago.

You do realise Putin invaded when Boris was still PM?
Of course you’re correct but Biden was hardly a strong enough ally. I stopped listening or watching the news after Putin invaded so I’m completely unaware of the timeline, I honestly didn’t even know about the Libya and Morocco disasters until the minutes silence today.

Sad, on all counts.

It’s the only way I could cope with it, it was in a period where in my 60’s and looking after an elderly parent as well as experiencing a stressful time with my business the invasion of Ukraine just about sent my anxiety into overdrive. It’s just my nature mate, it was/is my coping mechanism.

Fair one, can't blame you for drowning out the news in this day and age.

I used to be a rolling news addict then realised how it was affecting me mentally so I cut it back. The odd half hour is just enough.

I quit watching any news completely during COVID and I feel miles better for it. There is a lot of evidence that focusing on your 'local group' and not the 'world group' is far better for your mental health. The bizarre state of society today is that we know which celebrities are shagging who yet we have no idea who our neighbour is and often we don't even want to know.

I'm a big fan of Simon Sinek, he did a recent talk with Steven Bartlett and mentioned he struggles with loneliness, this is despite the fact that we can now talk to anyone anywhere in the world at anytime. He also spoke not of the need for us all to work on mental health but rather to work on our mental fitness, just like going to the gym.

Quitting the news is one thing you can do for your mental fitness, it means that yeah we don't learn about events such as what's happening in Libya but so what? There is no functional need for us as individuals to have so much knowledge about current events that don't impact us.

At least Biden is an ally of the rest of NATO unlike his predecessor who wanted to leave NATO and was an ally (or poodle) of Putin and was quoted as saying Putin was a genius for invading Ukraine.
