Boro Post Match thread

I think Pep fucked up today.

But he's trying, as he has done all season, to find a way of getting the best from the squad.

Some managers, will just put out the same routine every week & hope it works at some point. He hasn't. He's trying stuff & he's learning about his players. And if he doesn't do that now, he won't get much more opportunity in the future with a other 5 or 6 new players coming in.

I understand those who are not happy with that. Fair enough. I disagree but it's understandable.

Some of you in this thread & the matchday thread are just fucking wankers though.

And you deserve to support Utd if you don't already.

This. But for some reason, some cannot accept that this year Pep is having to use deadwood.

One of my pet peeves is that he has to. Would love to have seen far more in the way of foresight, especially when it comes to our golden oldies.

I honestly think the eds lads couldn't have done worse than our fullbacks this year, least they would have had the legs to get up and down as much as required.

Still wanting more from Sergio. He just doesn't pass quickly enough, there was 4-5 times where he had options either side and just blasted it at the first defender.

Navas/clichy both tragic but we all know that.

Great to see Vinny get another game under his belt i"ll feel alot more positive about next season if he can get a pre season without any injuries. Gab is one of those rare breed of strikers who can do fuck all all game yet with one chance he changes the game and gets a vital point for us. Difficult to undetstand why Pep thought he needed to start with a 3 given how much more solid we have looked at the back in recent weeks, im sure he has his reasons but its a major risk given how tight things are for the top 4

His reasons were that he wanted to play Jesus without creating a shit storm by dropping Serge. He'd have been better giving Serge a rest which I thought he would do. Having said that even after I saw the team selection I thought we would win.

Lets be fair about this result.

Give the manager a break. It's his first season, and he hasn't yet had a full pre season to sort his Team out.

Borough are fighting for their PL survival. They kicked f**k out of us today, and the referee gave them licence to do it by not being harsh enough with the bookings.

From our point of view we are still not being clinical enough in the final third, and a lot of that is down to slow ball from midfield. We also seem to have a habit of pressing the self destruct button at the back sometimes instead of just doing the basics of clearing the lines; Stones would have been a better prospect today if fit.

Bear in mind we have been a number of players out through injury; Stones, Gundogan, Silva, Toure who would have all brought something different to todays game and if you take the season as a whole, we've had a few players out for prolonged periods.

A draw is a fair result.

We probably have to win 3 games now to finish top four assuming Arsenal don't win today.

2 points dropped and as I mentioned yesterday ruthless teams win these games comfortably.

We are far from that with a soft midfield and a slow suspect defence.

Along with another top striker we have to sought these things out in the summer.

50/50 now for top four in what has been a disappointing season.

Pep: "In the second half with the wingers more specific, we were much better and created all the chances to win."

68% possession but only 4 shots on target. IF we could only convert shots on target into goals eh?
Admittedly Sané is a pest to defences, but he needs a space behind to utilise his pace. Hopefully it will be brighter next season.

Very good point you brought up.

Should have started them and I suspect he knows it. It would be refreshing to see him take responsibility for his mistakes every now and again.
