Borussia Dortmund (A) | CL | Post-Match Thread

Some absolute fannies on here. It's all about the result, form and entertainment is irrelevant when we've already qualified, just need to secure the group win and we're 3 weeks away from the world cup.

Very professional performance, completely controlled the game against a fairly good dortmund side in a hostile ground. Not sure how anybody can be remotely upset with that.

Job done, doesn't appear to be any injuries, minutes into stones and alvarez, rests for others, can't ask for more.
Thank god someone has got some sense of perspective on here. You would have thought we’d just scraped into europa judging by some of the comments posted.

Well said mate.

Some refuse to see the bigger picture.

I think the main thing to take home is that despite some pretty sloppy stuff in the first half (where Dortmund should probably have taken the lead), City really turned the screw in the 2nd half, in terms of control if not testing the keeper, and won the group. This has now made one game in a packed schedule meaningless, which i am sure Pep will be pleased with too.

Haaland being ill and possibly injured is a blow, and this lack of full backs is now showing through a lot. There's an air of 'making it through' to the World Cup about in some of the performances. Foden is now a little bit of a concern for me, he's erratic, and Alvarez is yet to settle and use his energy properly. Ake was great, and Akanji looks twice the player at CB than at RB. Professional result, if a little drab.

First Half we let them have a couple chances but we shored up second half and totally controlled the game. They sat with 2 banks and played for the point. We were right to conserve and keep control. Job done. Much better second half. Especially with Ake at left back. Job done.....move on

I think strong characters is an area we are light on...
Agreed, potentially due to Peps style of management. Must be quite hard to have an opinion i think. I saw bernie getting stroppy with Pep at the end of the match..did he dare to have a different opinion about something..who knows...we do miss kyle walker though who helps galvanise. Liverpool game casing point

Good point last night taking everything into consideration. Its a marathon not a sprint and this domestic seasons marathon has been extended by the world cup!!!!! Some of our players don't get enough credit, maybe they thought they would only put 75% into it like some of our early leavers.

Poor first half but we completely controlled the second. There was absolutely no reason to overextend ourselves and we got exactly what we needed
Absolutely but I'm greedy, want to see us win every game regardless of circumstances.

Instantly forgettable game, job done. As for penalties it's time our players started practicing them more and grew some bollocks. God help us if we need them to go through or win the bloody thing. Ederson rarely saves one and we rarely score one.
