The above offences apply even if the ball touches a player’s hand/arm directly from the head or body(including the foot) of another player who is close.

That says “another” player who is close. It wasn’t another player. But I think as someone else said, it probably violated the “making the body unnaturally bigger” part of the law. So could be ruled a penalty on that one.
