But then you end up with the VAR magnifying glass checking whether it did slightly brush off a players shoulder or not (think of Laporte header vs Spurs a few years ago).It should be straight, if it hits your hand/arm in any way its a foul (unless your the goalkeeper)
Agree , we dominated after Dortmund scored , our players showed spirit and purpose in abundance as for the penalty it wasnt even in question , why VAR to so long i have no idea they were probably on the phone to Cerferin asking can they allow the penalty , they obviously didnt get through to him.I'm a bit puzzled by some on here who thought we had a poor first half. We had a very timid start for some reason, but after Dortmund scored - and fair play the young lad took his chance well - I thought we dominated from that point. At HT and 0-1, hitting the bar and one cleared off the line, you're thinking "is it one of those nights?". But massive credit second half, we came out and controlled the game. The penalty was nailed on....there's no debate. The arm was in the most unnatural position possible and the slight touch from head to arm doesn't alter the fact the ball was hitting the arm anyway. Great strike for the second goal, what else can you say. The best thing about this? We played to our strengths, concentrated on what we could do and never hit the panic button. Players and manager showed they trust each other to deliver.

The rule just needs clearing up, if it comes off the player and deflects onto the arm it's not a pen unless the arm is in an unnatural position. (which I think is the common sense the VAR referees used last night).
Aw man, you should watch it back if you get the chance. I had work and didn't finish the match until 3am.
The first half was a bit nerve racking but there were some serious moments in last night's game that made me brim with pride.
It’s a usual instant reaction to anything that goes in at the near post. I’ve heard ex pro keepers say that it’s a myth and is a bugbear to them that they should never get beat there. They’re out of position if they’re too tight to the post and Sometimes the shot is so good that getting there and making a save is very difficult. Like Sane’s at Anfield a couole of year‘s back, my honest first reaction last night was “how well has he hit that?”. It was a superbly struck, sweet misile of a shot for me and the keeper made every effort to get there.First thing out of my mouth to my lads after the replay was “keeper should have saved it” and I promise you I’m a blue.
Well bet your house on it mate if you are that certain...let us know how it goes ;-)Absolutely certain we will lose to PSG at the Etihad but hopefully they will lose by more when we beat them in Paris. Home advantage seems to be a disadvantage these days.
I think I'm gonna.
Anywhere showing the repeats online?
Wish I could help you there but I had it recorded.
Hopefully someone more savvy than me sees this post.
We showed bottle - one of the reasons we're so good.Agree , we dominated after Dortmund scored , our players showed spirit and purpose in abundance as for the penalty it wasnt even in question , why VAR to so long i have no idea they were probably on the phone to Cerferin asking can they allow the penalty , they obviously didnt get through to him.
"When we have the ball, find space".a walk in the park for phil, where did all that space come from whe he received the ball,no defender within 2.5m of him . lol
He probably should have saved it, but I suspect Dortmund's manager will be angrier that the outfield players left Foden in 20 yards of space on the near side of a corner. It was defending that deserved to be punished, especially at that standard of football.First thing out of my mouth to my lads after the replay was “keeper should have saved it” and I promise you I’m a blue.
just watched that goal again, was more than 2.5m when he received the ball, more like 4m,fantastic positioning"When we have the ball, find space".
It's the law and a mark of a top player to do this.
Foden may turn out to be a top no.10.
Wow. Does anyone know what's the record for most consecutive away wins ?16 consecutive away wins!
Of course it paid off. We beat Dortmund. How can you not compute this?maybe so but the premier league title is not won just yet
ok we have points in the banked and the squad rotation vs leeds was used but it did not pay off did it
i always think english clubs have the upper hand in fitness and stamina in europe because of the premier league
others league just don't have teams that from top to bottom play you and beat home home or away
its the one thing we have over the others fitness and stamina. add power and skill and its hard to beat
Does it all the time - clipboard crib-sheet of anything negative his research could dig up - 'only this, only that, entire season hinges on tonight's result etc...' Him and Tyler (Aguerooooo moment apart) must be joined at the hip. Can you imagine that if Darke was commentating on a Liverpool CL game, he'd say 'Can Dortmund get back into this....' Neither can I...Ian Darke after we equalized “City have managed to pull themselves back into this tie” err we were 3-2 up at that point you bellend
