Bournemouth (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

This result has long since been coming - we're not nearly as good as we were 2 years ago and meanwhile Liverpool and Arsenal have improved.

For me:
P/L
Arsenal - wins the P/L title;
Liverpool - 2nd
Man City - 3rd

C/L
City - Makes Round of 16
Beyond that - depends on whom we face

Lucky to win any trophy this year. And shit time for Pep's contract to come up for renewal plus the bullshit FFP allegations against us.
Arse ain't winning the PL.

Not a chance in hell.

Pep knows his Onions and we trust 100%

Maybe Yesterday Pep protected some players from playing because he sees the Champions League as a bigger game and has to try and win more than the Premier League game, The new system in the Champions League nobody knows how many points are good enough to get straight into the knockouts,

I don't think there is a major problem other than Rodri long-term, But I would love Pep to control the amount of the players going in the next international break, Any player carry knocks should not be allowed to leave or players like KDB Walker Doku and a couple of others told to stay
I agree mate . Wish we could not send anyone to the internationals

The most disappointing thing about yesterday’s performance is that we have seen for weeks that this midfield doesn’t work and desperately lacks legs and energy.

I am not Nunes biggest fan, but he has definitely put some good performances in recently and regained some confidence…..why not put him in the middle (The position we bought him for) to at least freshen it up.

I am still hopeful we will see Gundogan return to something like, but surely McAtee should be given a run….he can’t do any worse. Grealish, when fit should also be given a chance to play in the middle.

Gvardiol was bought as a centre half……..why not play him in there today and play Ake at fullback……he struggles against pace and power especially in the middle.

I seem to remember two years ago City putting in a similar performance against Brentford at home……look what happened that season…….however the players are another two years older and some are definitely in decline.

We have made mistakes…..letting Palmer go and not getting a proper back up for Rodri etc however I’d take not winning anything this season if some of the youngsters are given a proper chance.

I want Pep to stay, but he’s not above criticism and this turgid side to side passing without any creativity or end product is a really hard watch at the moment.

It also amazes me that when we eventually do get in a position to cross to Haaland the players do not seem capable of lifting the ball sufficiently and invariably hit the first defender….Nunes actually put the best crosses in today.

Five in a row is a tough ask…….and we can’t forget the majority of these players got us to the 4……but I fear that it’s one season too many for some.

Judging by my experience at our games I would say it’s a significant minority if it is indeed a minority.
I was thinking about forum posters

At the games there is indeed a significant shift in the profile of fan

There are still so many 'of an age^ so they are mostly not entitled - but there are so many younger fans - which is great (although I do wonder how so many get tickets)

One guy yesterday spent the whole game slagging Foden off

So he definitely seemed to be an entitled one

Pep knows his onions and a system he trusts 100%, There is a big jump in class from being a good player to being world-class, Pep's first team has got about 3 or 4 key players you just can not lose long term, Rodri is one of them and KDB is another and sadly both have injuries,

Khaldoon leaves the football side of things well alone and rightly so plus Nobody questions Pep in his choices and how many players he wants in the squad,

Yesterday's overreaction by some on here is crazy and shows how football at the top table is with some fans, Before the game we were top of the league and a happy bunch of people, 96 minutes later the wheels have come off and it's a major problem and questions being asked about Pep and City
Not so sure I agree with your last paragraph. . The trend over this season is to struggle to win after conceding a soft carbon copy goal. The fact we were top was pretty fortuitous. There are some obvious issues with the way we are playing I'd say since pre Cup Final . Players look dead on their feet but our opponents don't. We play more games so rotate but we don't have depth or youth .
KdB will no doubt come back strong then fade as he did after several games last season . Its called ageing.
The only person who can fix it is Pep -we are not 'questioning him' we are commenting.
