Bournemouth (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

We started the season quite strongly and then came up against a not too bad Brentford side who gave us a game. Since then it's been a bit laborious with a lack of quality. Injuries have obviously not helped but we clearly don't look right. I think it may be a case of trying to hang on in there until some players and form return.

It's only one game we lost, and we are panicking here.
The day is coming when we lose the league title and win nothing Get a grip, some people on here can not take losing and point fingers and blame Pep,

Yes Injuries, Yes players are not fully fit, But you don't lose titles on a day like this you lose titles because you can not ask any more from this squad of players that have won it 4 times on the bounce and add Champions League and fa cups and you realize how lucky we have been in 5 seasons,

Nobody likes losing, but it is football and today was not our day

i mean, its the same mini crisis every season right around this time, i somehow doubt that we will be able to turn it around with away games vs brighton and liverpool coming soon but stranger things have happened

We were worse than this by February of the treble winning season. So much football still to play

We have been in managed decline since late ;last Season. The Club is awash with money but whether its complacency, Pep or legal uncertainty we hung on sentimentally to a core of ageing players. Like any business when you are at the top you need to ruthlessly refresh. We have failed to do that and now reaping the results.

Annoying but let’s face it, it’s been coming. Glad we get a chance to reflect and recharge following Arsenal dropping a crazy amount of points and Dippers dropping points last week. If Dippers win today (which I expect) two points off the top in November with the double header against them still to play and Arsenal wallowing 5 points behind and looking equally as average.. I’d have taken at the start of the season.. even with a fully fit squad.

However, we need to get players back and start to turn the corner with our performance levels. Phil needs to pull his finger out.. he’s been dreadful so far.

*Edit. For some reason I thought Dippers were the 17:30 kick off. Turned on the Tv to Wolves, Palace. Oh well that ship has sailed :(

Amidst all the noise after our defeat what I take away is the Rico should only play right back in an emergency. He is so much more valuable as an advanced midfielder!!

Would’ve been fucking criminal if we’d got anything out of that.

Shit. Backing out of tackles all over the pitch. Again.

It’s all too tepid. Slow. Bottleless. Boring.

As soon as Lewis came on, we upped it because he had the audacity to actually play the ball fucking quickly and with some urgency. Unlike the rest of them.

No fight in a lot of them for 83 minutes. Injuries? Fine. But that starting 11 should’ve been enough given Pep doesn’t make many subs anyway.

And don’t get me started on Walker. Christ.

At least the tarquins lost.
Kovacic and Gundogan in midfield is too slow, Rico should have started rather than Gundogan who has been poor for most of the season.

Think gundo is getting some unfair stick. When he came back I don’t anticipate we thought he’d be starting every game. But needs must.
He was just as bad after the last international break having had a week or so off.
His legs like walkers have quite clearly gone unfortunately based on what we've seen from them this season.

Running on empty. To many bloody games and meaningless internationals.
Makes it easier for teams without this commitment to up their game against us. We look tried physically and mentally

Four in a row going to be tough this season to get a 5th, but not impossible.

Dippers still on new manager bounce.

Anybody would think we were missing the best and most important player in the world! Hard to recover from that.

I said it before, you can't constantly concede first and make comebacks and tonight we paid for it, if Haaland doesn't score it has to Stones or Gvardiol because the others can't hit a fucking barn door.

If Gundogan can't help with the scoring there is absolutely no point in him starting since he's a complete liability defensively, Foden can't find his shooting boots at the moment and the less said about Silva the better.

Defenisively we've been a shambles all season and it doesn't help with the constant changes to the backline, like why are Stones and Dias all of a sudden unavailable ? we desperately need a RB because Walker and Lewis can't defend for shit and every game there are goals from that side, at least Rico is young and will get better but Walker is just a meme at this point, and I mean Harry Maguire levels of meme, so we either need to buy a RB or maybe try Akanji there if the other CB's are fit.

I know injuries have killed us but some of the players have been out of it all season and they need to do far better.

That result has been coming for weeks.

Defence has been all over the place all season, cant keep conceding one or two goals each game and expect to get away with it.

Midfied is dull and ponderous in possesion. "Akanji, to Ake, back to Akanji, forward io Kovacic, back to Akanji, to Walker, now Kovatic, back to zzzzzzz"

While the likes of Gundog, Foden and Bernardo look like shodows of their former selves, and show very little signs of a goal or assist, and injuries has nothing to do with it, they have been poor all season.

Im hoping this is one of those early season blips we often get, but I have my doubts this time.

Our next 3 games are tough. I didn’t realise that. Hopefully we get KDB back. Bournemouth were deserved winners unfortunately.
