Bournemouth (H) - CC 3rd Round Post-match Thread

Glass half full:Tommy Doyle great, Foden just magnificent again, Steffen looks good with his feet
Glass half empty:No left backs at the club (Mendy atrocious), Torres poor debut, and I'll pay the Easyjet flights to Barca for Garcia (he is even slower than I thought) But a good result over all and on to the next one. Cook's challenge on KDB was a disgrace and a straight red card. Moss was as useless as ever.

Foden continues to show he is the 2nd best player at the club. Delap looks like a proper knock em over Striker. Doyle was decent.

Got to love Delap , old fashioned centre forward who puts the shits up defenders , only problem he will get his fair share of yellows and reds in the new age game of squealing opposition players crying for their mummy
Brilliant goal , and his challenge on their keeper had a touch of Joe Royle/Wyn Davies/previous era about it , he made some wrong decisions in possesion but a superb debut.
Doyle also played like he belonged in the team , mopped up everything in the middle , good result and a really good watch with the youngsters showing plenty of potential

Lots of promise to come from our youngsters. Delap looks like he could be ready to feature this season. Doyle also.

Foden was magnificent.

Moss the fat **** doing his usual utter shite of a refereeing display. The end summed it up, free kick for offside against City (5 yards into their half) and he let's the keeper take it a good 10 yards into our half!
It was never 10 yds but it was in our half. Would have been a shit storm had they scored from that

Shocking refereeing as usual from the fat one.

I never really like when we play 3 at the back, nullifies our attacking threat so much.

Mahrez continually plays terribly in these early cup games, like he's offended to have been put in with the kids. Sané was similar, IMO it really differentiates the real team players and the ones focused on themselves above all. Sterling, Walker, Mendy, Rodri all supported the kids, took on more responsibility, could be seen guiding them through the game and looked like they were enjoying it.

Happy with that, I’m sure Pep wouldn’t have wanted walker and Foden to play 90 minutes ideally but I’d sooner that and we go through.

None of the kids looked like the weak link, all had good performances with Doyle the standout. Steffen shepherded the two cb’s through the game very well, was very vocal and his kicking looked more than competent. great to see Foden take more responsibility to be the main man tonight, was two or three levels above everybody else on the pitch. Torres and mahrez both non-existent first half, expected to see more from them. mahrez much more involved second half but seemed a bit off pace though, will put that down to isolation period. Torres shown a few glimpses in a 10 minute period but looked like he’s going to take a while to settle.

That was a good advert for training sessions.

Pleased for Liam, he looks very useful. Foden comfortably best player, and not at his best by a long way, the rest very MEH.

Honestly hope we move him on.
Ive never warmed to him.
I was hoping this year would see a change - and I know it's only one game - but he is far too greedy. Seemed reluctant to give Torres the ball early so when he did get the ball he was tightly marked, tried to take shots when better passes were on, same old, same old. He did help create the goal but he only seemed excited when Kev got injured and he could take a free kick! Maybe I'm being unfair but he should have caused them nightmares but didn't do it for me. Delap and Doyle were more fun to watch.

Anyway we shall see how he goes this year but for his ability he has to take any chance he can to make him part of the first 11 - sorry Mahrez fans, it's only my opinion and I maybe wrong...
