Bournemouth (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Well played CITY!

That was a big win. They're a good team but we pretty much shut them down.

I thought the defence played well and looked balanced.

We controlled the middle of the park and the movement of all of the starters was key in creating space and chances. They all played well in the 1st half.

Erling scored two great goals. His finishing was lethal for two of his chances. He could've had more, but's he's on fire and his whole game has improved so much.

It took a while to get going in the 2nd half, but we settled down and scored another great goal. In the end it was comfortable, so well happy with that.

That's one down in what was the beginning of a tough week, but we're getting better and healthier, so let's keep it going!

COME ON CITY!!!!

A couple of grouses — mild ones.

Sloppy first ten to fifteen minutes at the beginning of the second half. Giving balls away, not winning second balls, making a rod for our own back by letting Bournemouth, who were no charlies, create danger both on the wing and coming through the centre. Then we got a grip on the game again, and managed it very well. We could have scored another. On the other hand, Bournemouth might have scored too.
Phil: for a guy with phenomenal skills, he doesn't half put some rotten corners in. I simply can't fathom what his problem is.

Overall, that may well be our best game of the season so far. Thoroughly satisfied tonight. We improve our away form, and we'll push the Arse.

Great game that today and the difference between the teams was Haaland, Cherki, Foden and Doku who were all superb I thought. Gonzalez had probably his best game for us as well today and did very well. Great goal by O'Reilly as well - he's looking better every game and will be a real asset for us this season.

Cherki looks like he has a touch of the KdB and Silva about him - great awareness, makes perfectly weighted passes look simple as well. That header for the first goal was superb as was the pass for the second. He's definitely got that X Factor that can turn games for us. I like it that we're mixing it up more as well - when we play that ball for Haaland to chase, it's game over.

I really don't know what we can say about Haaland this season, he's simply the best player on the planet. He's completely unplayable and unflappable. He's got to be a real contender for Ballon D'Or and I really hope we can win the CL to get him there.

It's got to be said that Bournemouth are an exceptionally managed club - the players they've sold and they look better than ever. Their manager is absolutely top class as well and manages to get 100% from every player in every game. He will end up at a top club at some point. I'd honestly not be surprised to see him at City, his teams are consistently good and play some decent football which given the budget is incredible. I liked the look of the full back against Doku - he was very quick and nimble and not many can give Doku a game.

Great result overall, back into 2nd and I honestly still feel this team is playing about 50% of what it can do. If we can hang in till the last 10 games then anything can happen. Too many people have written us (and Liverpool) off but no way will Arsenal go all season without a wobble - they aren't that good. When they have to go to places and win when there's pressure on, it's a different game and Arteta has never done that.

COME ON CITY!!

Nico gonzalez was superb and is showing what a great player he is. Going to be a cracking player for us.

Should have been out of sight in the first half but full credit to Bournemouth for giving it a go.

Still can’t believe that’s not given as a foul on the keeper. He grabs his arm and impedes him from jumping correctly. Should 100% be a foul and gives carte Blanche to foul keepers at corners every game now.
Except when we score against Liverpool.

We actually scored our third just after their full back got injured and was clearly in trouble. Might have helped a bit that as Bournemouth have Nico O way too much time.

Someone wrote after the Swansea game how does Pep get Foden& Cherki in the same team. Well there's your answer!

I thought they linked up brilliantly through the lines also with Doku keeping narrow & then allowing the wing backs to shoot forward.
OReilly could have got a couple today.

Really great performance and cracking game. We look like we may be a contender again.
It's worth picking out one comment there "cracking game".

I know we won, but there have been some absolutely shite PL games this season, I doubt there were many that watched that, who didn't enjoy it. You have to admire how Bournemouth play, it's a very high line, and was there downfall against us, but it made for an enjoyable watch.

Entertaining match - the first half was as fast a tempo for a long time.

Cherki being the creative player and others around benefiting. The most pleasing part was it was a team performance against decent opposition.
