We were different class from the first minute and in all honesty, it was just a case of how many. We didn't even have to break sweat and we were absolutely unplayable. Bournemouth didn't even try to make it difficult, or if they did we make it look easy!

To be honest, I always think the worse possible time to play the newly promoted clubs is either in the first 5 games of the season, or the last 5. In the middle, they take a beating but at the start and end they play for their lives. At the start of the season they are full of optimism and hunger and can win some surprising games - Fulham v Liverpool and us v Norwich the other year for example. In all honesty, if we'd have played against 15 Bournemouth players it wouldn't have mattered, we blew them apart. I bet Pep is annoyed it was only 4-0!

KdB was MOTM and was absolutely superb wasn't be. His goal was just brilliant and it looks like he's carrying his form on from last season which is great to see. It was also good to see Ake getting another game as I do think it will do his confidence some good having a good run.

Haaland did brilliantly to set up Gundogan. He had no right being able to do that with so many defenders around him, but that strength and touch were world class - it's literally what we've lacked up front now for years. In some ways, it reminded me of Balotelli's touch for the Aguero goal! I know Haaland didn't score, but it's just a matter of time before he 'clicks' with the team and when he does, it's game over. He is going to be a club legend, I can just feel it.

Great start to the season - loads of goals, played a tricky away game at WHU and home against a newly promoted team and no goals conceded. Can't fault it at all!

COME ON CITY!!

Just had a read on the bournemouth forum, most appreciated our performance, but a couple saying that we're boring to watch .
I used to think that about peps barca, until they ripped utd apart, and you could appreciate how good they were.
He has educated us on how the game should be played and can't ever see the time when we go back to knocking the ball over the top for someone to chase ever again.
Just seen that Scott Parker said City are the best team he has ever seen. As in ever.

We're still in our pre-season - still warming up, but it's our best start for years. Wait till we hit our normal standard.

Yesterday - the team = brilliant, the behind the scenes running of the club on the football side = colossal, the pre-match = arguably the best anywhere. However, yesterday at the bars on the concourse - found wanting. An elderly guy next to me was suffering in the heat - also had a bad leg. I queued up during the game to get him a drink, then hey presto - no more water - the supply had gone 'warm'........ Thankfully, someone else got him a drink from another bar. In my view the club should have split the folks queuing for beers, pies and soft drinks and had staff on the bar handing out cartons and bottles of water - would have speeded things up. We shouldn't have been queuing for water with the fans buying beers and pies. I feel sorry for the staff on the bar - some were getting a hard time from some fans telling 'em to get a move on. The supervisors were probably unaware that the elderly and those with cardiac conditions and those who have had strokes are especially vulnerable when dehydrated. A lesson to learn maybe?

Absolutely no need for the pre match fireworks etc, do it for a big match yes but not for Bournemouth ffs. Hate all the pre match American shite
I have never seen fireworks or smoke bombs or flares at any American sporting event, ever, prior to the match. Do you know why? Because that's not done in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, or MLS. So you must hate American Shite and pre match fireworks so you just lumped the two together. I get it.

Noticed Lerma got credited with our 4th goal (which is correct) but would the panel of took the goal off say Nunez or Tront if they'd done what Cancelo had done?
They've both been credited with deflected goals recently
Or Kane, after his shot that was going wide, deflected off James yesterday. (Kane credited with the goal).

The 2nd half was a bit tedious to be honest, although the heat didn't help

Yes the game was over at half time and obviously the players slowed right down in that heat. Could easily have buggered off at half time and missed nothing.

I used to travel up from plymouth, when we were shit , some times , if not pissed enough , the train journey back seemed endless
Trains are far too expensive at the moment.
Used to be minibus back in the day, and National Express is 8 hours plus each way - and with fixtures subject to change I can't really book. (plus the times and length of journey are prohibitive anyway - good job talksh*te helps pass the time with their informed, balanced and we'll reasoned content)

I’m down Poole a couple of times a week with work and a few of the lads down there are Bournemouth ST holders . They came up for the game 3 of them with their kids and stayed overnight . Arranged to meet up at the Vic but they didn’t quite make it , spoke after the game and said follow the masses into town where they were going for something to eat . They walked back with loads of blues who they said couldn’t have been more helpful and had good laugh on the way , said they’d never met such hospitable fans . Well done lads and lasses

Fair play to anyone making that trip up here from the south coast on the day of a train strike

As for the game, from what I saw from my seat in the sun which was ridiculous. as was the clownish letting off of pyros before the game, we played OK. Starting from the back, Eddy could have got a deck chair out and read an Agaton Sax book, Ake was superb, He defends properly and uses the ball well. Our full backs spent most of the game inverted wandering around the midfield creating space (although i do worry that against a better side on the counter it may be our undoing) Rodri is turning into a very special player, he gets better and better. Gundogan is magnificent, I have always loved players who make the game look simple and he is a master of it. At the moment he really is playing the best football of his life. Up top it was tough against a 4-5-1 which became a 9-1 formation and space was at a premium which made Erlings assist that much better. They were scared to death of him, which helped us find small pockets and allowed us to dominate. I loved Jacks chipped ball to Cancelo, that was fabulous and helped us finish the game off.

Good to see Pep use all the subs on a day that I hope I never have to endure watching a game of football in again, and brilliant to see young Rico get a debut. Alvarez did well too, when he settles he will be a handful for any team. his work ethic is impressive. Loved the reception for Bernardo, he is loved.

Negatives, none really, apart from our squad maybe looks a little thin.

We have definitely had worse weekends though
