Bernardo won't go back to the bench. We've been waiting for months for him to turn up, he did against Leicester, Pep will spot that this is the time to give him another game for him to continue that form and really settle into the team. Benching him for this would be counter-productive, especially when we play 4 times in 10 days and everyone will get good game time. Sterling on the bench for this with him coming in fresh against Newcastle.

There's that but he ran his bollocks off for 120 minutes so wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't start especially with games coming quick and fast over christmas. That said he hasn't played a great deal this season so maybe he will - I can see a good argument for both sides and don't mind either with the replacement being sterling!

From the Bournemouth website this morning:

  • AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has spoken about a number of injuries in the Cherries' camp ahead of the Manchester City game.

Jermain Defoe and Harry Arter limped out of the Cherries' midweek Carabao Cup defeat to Chelsea, while Charlie Daniels could miss the City game after coming off against Liverpool.

He also added that Joshua King's hamstring injury may be better than first feared, but will be "touch and go" for the Christmas period.

The boss said: "We've suddenly been hit with injuries at the worst time, it's not ideal for us but hopefully none of them are too serious.

"Firstly we're sending Jermain to see a specialist and we'll know more on the back of those results.

"But we are concerned that it could be a more serious injury than an ankle twist, but we'll wait and see.

"It's difficult to speculate until we get a specialist's opinion.

"As for Charlie, he has a tendon problem which we don't think is serious, it's been niggling him for a week or so.

"Harry came off against Chelsea with a calf problem, again something which we don't think will be long term.

"Callum will be OK, he had an injection in his knee as he had small pain in one particular movement, but he's had his jab and featured against Chelsea so he should be fine."

After us they have West Ham and Everton at home followed by Brighton away. Surely if a player has a niggle they may think let's not risk it against City but let's get them for for the West Ham and Everton games which they are more likely to pick up points in

They have been hit with a few injuries. Defoe is out and Daniels is a major doubt

Also their back four have played Sunday and Wednesday and may have to play 3 games in 6 days which is not an easy task off the back of Liverpool and Chelsea who if nothing else run defences around somewhat.

Totally agree about Bernardo. I would throw Gundog into that scenario too

I think it's abot time we started singing - "Another one Bites the dust" when we are winning.
Better yet how about our own version of "We Will Rock You?" Can you imagine the etihad stamping and clapping properly? Would be awesome
