Boyata Retires

That is really harsh. Things have to go very wrong t get to that point. You would just go on loan but maybe there us so much bad feeling from the club they would rather humiliation for the player instead of getting him away and recouping some level of the cost.
I always wonder how football clubs think they can get away with this & how it’s never challenged legally.
I guess because the salary is so big and as long as they pay it then there is not much point in the player claiming for damages or something. It feels like a slam dunk win though if they did.

I had a career on Football Manager years ago and him and Phil Jones (signed from Blackburn Rovers before you all start!) Were the bedrock of 5 consecutive Champions League wins with Yaya Sanogo and Aguero banging them in upfront. Funny how it works out! Had a solid career really, did well to get 30+ caps for Belgium in the era he played in alongside Kompany, Vertonghen and Alderweireld

Was that from the game where we lost 0-4 or 1-4 with Nasri tearing us apart. If it was, Boyata was sent off after about 15 minutes.

That was a long train ride back to London for me.
We lost 0-3. Boyata was sent off in the 5th minute.

It was our first home game after Malcom Allison had passed. There was a tribute to him prior to the match.

I remember seeing an interview with a young Boyata, i think on the City website and thought he came across brilliant and posted on here about how i thought he was gonna be a star....had high hopes for him, shame it never happened

Looked at his Wikipedia and he played less than 300 club games, did he have a lot of injuries? I always liked Boyata, shame that Arsenal red card killed his City career

Ah, not sure where I got four from.

I now recall the tribute to Malcolm Allison. I went to the memorial area before the game.
