Bradford City Fire 30th Anniversary - 1 minute silence

Will be well respected by all football fans

Absolutely will. There's no need to ask really but what a moving post from the OP. RIP to your Granddad and I'll think of him in particular before the game.

Great post OP; I'm going to be over for the Villa game and will offer a silent prayer for those 56 souls during the minute's silence. As someone else has already mentioned, I too was at the Charlton game that day, and was on the pitch celebrating at the end. Get back home and the joy quickly turned to sadness on hearing the news. I've watched the video on youtube a few times (won't post it on here out of respect to the OP), and it is truly frightening just how quickly that fire turned from a minor incident under a few seats to a raging inferno. Those poor people who were trapped under the stand trying to get out via the exits never stood a chance.

My brother was a student in Bradford so adopted them as his second team. He was also there on there on that horrific day. Fortunately he got out unscathed and had the good sense to immediately ring his Mum so she would not worry.

Thank you for the post and reminder, I will, like all Blues who get to know about it will be there and observing the silence.

sadly i'll be away on holiday for the villa game, I remember the Bradford fire disaster as though it was yesterday a very, very sad day, RIP 56, I will certainly spare a minute to think of those poor souls. I must admit i thought, why not on the 9th may, home v qpr which is closer to the anniversary date ?

The minutes silence is on the 25th April as it's Bradford's last home game and I think everyone is doing it in line with Bradford.
Thanks for all your kind words, I couldn't be in a better place to remember him you've all just proved that.

R.I.P. to him and all the others from that terrible day. I was living in London and watching the football results come in on tv, seem to remember them going live to the Bradford v. Lincoln game and suddenly there was smoke and flames inthe stand. Inside a minute you were watching a tragedy develop. Strangely some in the crowd were still singing and chanting as the fire spread, not knowing people were trapped. There was the bobby with his hair on fire, but he was one of the lucky ones. R.I.P. to all.

Stickie (or whatever it's called Ric?)

I shall stand, and I shall remain silent - 56 football fans just like us died that day, over 260 were injured - RIP Eric! Some things do put football in perspective!
