Yeah I know he did. He left on the basis that game time was looking very u likely. But then he went and got some at Dortmund straight away. Surely if he’d have stayed he could have been given some time, but looking at the time that Foden gets I’d guess he was right to move.
Except that's not true either. It wasn't until January this year (18 6 or 7 months after he left us) that he made his first league start for them having just a 10 & 6 minute spell before that.

Don't forget that regardless of his imagined reasons for leaving (only he knows the truth) he was apparently demanding guaranteed playing time when he was just 16, yes he was 17 when he left but contracts are discussed over a long period of time.

If he'd still been here yes, no doubt he'd have got playing time (probably not as much as he's now getting with Dortmund though) but he took the gamble and it paid off and good luck to the lad.

January 2018 was just six months, isn't it ?

The kids got a lot of potential and in all honesty wouldn't surprise me if he got minutes at Madrid as back-up to Asensio/Bale, he'd be competing with Vazquez(bang average winger) and Vinicius Jnr whilst here he has Sane/Mahrez/Sterling/B.Silva, much less likely to break through. Can't blame him in the slightest for wanting the move.

Idiotic is probably going a bit far. But is Pep possibly choosing between trying to break records himself and the overall, longer term good of the club?

Under Pellegrini and Mancini we seemed to really struggle in games where Dave, Kun or Vinny were out, but under Pep we seem to be able to replace people and pretty much keep the same standard. I’d think that would mean that a midfield of GUNDOGAN, FODEN, DE BRUYNE or DINHO, DIAZ, DAVE could still beat Cardiff or Huddersfield, but Pep plays with KEV, DINHO, DAVE whenever he can and then we win 5 or 6 nil.
Surely Pep believes that swapping Phil or Brahim for Dave or Kev in a game against weaker opposition would still enable us to win.

It’s nice that he’s said that the club has done everything he can, and it’s amazing that we’ve broken so many records, but with a longer term view, I’d rather win 2-0 with Phil in the team than 6-0 and he then leaves.

Foden ain't going anywhere. At the age of 20-21 he'll be a first team regular.

Díaz won’t sell shirts, he’ll never be a regular at Madrid, there are two far more developed wingers and a couple of excellent young wide forwards currently not getting much football at Madrid.

Sadly like us, they want to give him 15-20 games and sell him for £20m.

If you get annoyed by people debating the benefits of starting kids or discussing Guardiola not doing so, just don't read the thread.

It's not that hard.

Posting idiotic "it'll happen if it happens" isn't going to stop people discussing it.

Nothing idiotic about that! The Italians have been singing about it for years - lovely song. All together now QUE SERA, SERA, WHATEVER WILL BE, WILL BE, THE FUTURE'S NOT OURS TO SEE, QUE SERA, SERA! Hey you fuckers in the South Stand, I haven't seen yer fuckin' lips move!!

Well, that's spooky. I just finished typing the above paragraph and Radio 2 gives us VOLARE!!

I hope he makes it in La Liga. They have convinced him it is the right move and we will see in the next two or three years whether Real were legit in that assumption. I for one think it's a reckless decision as he could have gone to a dozen other clubs and got amongst the first team straight away...

And maybe we gave him the same promises of something like:
We don’t think you’re ready just yet and you need to get used to playing with the team, but if you keep your standards up then by January you can start making some appearances and starts and then you have to take that chance’.

Maybe it just sounds different coming from a new club, or maybe he looked at the track record of players here not breaking through.
