might be saying something really stupid here but... if this kid was at liverpool or spurs would he be getting more first team action? i think he would. i guess i'm just confused as to why he's not been getting involved except for minutes against swansea months ago.

the kid is definitely talented, and no better manager than pep to nurture that. but i feel like we're not giving him enough. we persist playing shite like navas when brahim could do the same if not more. i guess results haven't been going our way so throwing kids about is not exactly possible...

who knows what peps reasons are but i sure hope it changes

I'm a huge, huge Brahim fan but im not convinced he'd be a first team regular at Spurs or Liverpool yet. He did only turn 17 in August so its worth remembering how very young he is. He's still small and learning to deal with the increased physicality of u23 football. I don't think we need to rush him as I don't think he'd be necessarily offering us anything guaranteed at this stage.

certainly not a regular, but probably have featured more at this stage. he's young yes 17, but he's very very talented, and i feel that if you look back at the top top footballers their first team careers start at around the 17/18 age.

not heard much of his name since going into the u23 side, seen alot of him being played as a number 9, not sure what this experiment is doing for his development. hopefully pep doesn't forget him once jesus comes in january.

Really? Have you watched the EDS at all? Have you watched the league cup?

This pair of comments is needless worrying over absolutely nothing. You say he needs to start playing when he's 17/18 -Well Brahim will be 18 until August 2018 so he's got 18 months to start playing then.

Iniesta didn't become a regular until he was 20/21 by the way.

Why is he playing at 9? Because moving players around is a tried and tested way to make them more rounded players, with better skillsets and helps them understand the roles around them more clearly.

There's no way he'd be a regular at Liverpool - their best youngster Woodburn is 17 and has played...once - and he's a bigger lad. Spurs' kids coming through are all 19 or 20, not a chance he'd be playing for them at 17.

And why would Pep forget him? He's already thrown him to the front of the queue by giving him his debut at 17, and they share the same agent - Pep's brother.

Of all the things going on at the club right now, is Brahim really the thing that needs flapping about?

needless worrying yes i agree, considering the magnitude of the operation at city. I can admit i haven't watched much EDS at all, following twitter commentaries and reading what over people have to say about it.

again i can respect how young he is, but i also can see how good he is. 18 months is a long time but there will be transfer windows in that time that hopefully dont put him down the pecking order.

from what i can gather from some accounts on twitter following the eds closely, the brahim at 9 hasn't been working? it that can make sense to me, brahim is great on the ball, dribbling and passing, specifically playing facing the opponents. he looked deadly in the youth cup against arsenal last year. not sure what he has to gain at attempting to play with his back to goal (maybe thats why im typing on a forum and not working in youth development).

and i never said he'd be a regular at liverpool or spurs for that matter, but just getting more than the 20(?) minutes hes had now?

well good on iniesta. im sure theres plenty of counter examples to my sweeping statement.

maybe it's some big blue tinted glasses on but i'd be surprised if liverpool or spurs had a talent like brahim in their academies, but if they did would they play him more? i can only guess.

i just dont see why brahim doesnt get on the bench above someone like navas. navas is in his last year of contract so is going to leave the club. navas is ineffective and i think pep prefers sterling nolito combo over navas. so it's not even like navas is relied on.

when we play teams like middlesbrough, our lineup was strong in the midfield and attack: dinho, navas, de bruyne, gundogan, silva, aguero with subs nolito, sane, kelechi and garcia.

what i fail to understand is why navas plays over sane, and why brahim cant make the bench in a game like this. we have world class talent going forwards, we should be able to win without thinking.

our squad has a lot of issues, i think using youth more instead of washed up seniors is the answer.

Domalino is right about it being too early for him (although it's only December yet anyway), Harry Kane for instance is much more physically imposing but didn't make his mark at Spurs until he was 20 and was 21 before becoming a regular. btw he's 18 in 9 months time, not 18 as Domalino said.

Playing the youth players in different positions is tried and tested so while his position will no doubt be deeper so he can run at people he will be learning while playing as a 9.

Navas is a senior player and I doubt that Pep would drop him entirely to play an untested kid when his contract runs out in the Summer, he's one of 7 in the same position contract wise so this season may just have to be written off as a transitional one although I think we're still good enough to win something. It may be that some get moved on this January and we may see more of the Academy products in the run in.

Yes but he'll still be 18 in 18 months time, his 19th birthday is in August 2018 ;)

My point was that he's got 18 months to make a mark and still be 17 or 18 when he does it - not that I agree 17/18 is when all the best players make their breakthrough anyway.

Haha, fair point. I wasn't thinking from that end of it.
