Brandon Barker for Navas?

I would rather give my gran a go than watch Navas any longer. All this defending him because he works hard and gets in good positions?? His job is to beat a man, cause problems for a defence, score goals and create room for other players, he does none! his only move is kick it down the line and try and drill in across goal. fair enough we score from one or two but you expect that from 40 attempted crosses per game. im not having that he deserves a place in the team because he tracks back, we should be past that thinking process now. our wingers should be ripping full backs to pieces with skill and ability not just kick and run. if he wasn't fast he would be playing for a lower league side in spain. for me he cant cross, cant beat a man and has a poor shot. apart from helping his full back what does he offer?? for those who are going to throw assist stats at me don't bother, If I had the amount of opportunities to pass/cross a ball as he does I would get assists too.

Navas is too easy a scapegoat. Our best attacking outlet yesterday. People need to get off his back.

Correct and is a great asset defensively

Exactly, why should Navas get all the blame? Ok, so he doesn't seem confident enough to take on the defender, but I don't see how anyone can fault his crosses. Whose fault is it that there is nobody at end of the crosses that DO enter the penalty box? Why aren't our forwards anticipating these crosses correctly? And those crosses that hit the first defender, they almost always result in a corner. Is getting a corner instead that bad? Whose fault is it then that the team is not able to take advantage of high number of corners? Certainly not Navas'.
We don't seem to have anyone who can be considered a set-piece specialist. Overrated or not, players like Baines or Larsson would be topping the goal-scoring and/or assist chart, given the number of set-piece opportunities our players had.

If youth players like Brandon Barker can make a difference, then I'm all for it. Certainly not going to make things worse than it already is..

Then why does Milner get a free pass?

If this lad doesn't get a chance in the very near future we may as well forget the Academy and I would rather give him a chance than pay 50 million for Barkley personally as there is no doubt he has the attributes to play centrally as well as wide. That said, I saw him play for the EDS against Spurs last December with Kyle Walker making his comeback and he seemed a bit overawed which may or may not be understandable. He switched to the right for the second-half and he looked far more effective. 17 is young but if you have pace, skill and strength as Brandon does then he has a better chance at that age than most. I would have him on the bench for some Prem games this season without any doubt but I still have faith in Navas even though he has lacked conviction and confidence recently.

Barker is not playing on the left side?

It doesnt really matter which side he plays on because Milner can play left or right.

And it wouldnt be a case of dropping Navas, he's due a rest.

It all comes down to whether Barker is ready yet.

Milner is playing left/right but when he came to us he said that he wants to play in the center.
As for Barker, I only saw him 4-5 times, it seems like he has all the skills to become a world class player. It depends on him, doesn t it? I would put him on the bench for some PL/FA and give him 20-30 min (not 2-3 min) when we have a solid lead. It s time for us to bring 1-2 players every season on the bench. If we can level Ajax on the academy level it would be great.
