brazilians

Mostly Africans in the north and then Europeans in the South. Mix that with the indiginous population and you have quite a mix.

Another question, do all the ethnic groups get along and is there parity or is it a bit like South Africa?

No it is not like South Africa there is a division of wealth and the white Brazilians are wealthier but that is due to the fact most black Brazilians are descendants of slaves. There are some wealthy non footballers though who are black. However Brazil's problems are more about class you will find black, white, mixed, Asian (Japanese decent) in the flavelas. They will all be of equal standing. The racism there is more class based.

Brazil is also a very superficial place they take more effort in looking good and partying then they do into succeeding and business. So if you are hard working and keep your head down you can make it. They are frustratingly laid back though so if you are used to the way things are done here you will be bashing your head against the wall over there.

Racism is there but classism is way more serious.

Flavela dwellers.

Quite a lot of Germanic settlers in the south (not the Nazi-kind).
The most Italian immigrants of any country as well

As well as the most Germans, Japanese and Africans outside their relative countries.

Beautiful country, but corruption and crime is unbelievable.

Oh and the women are stunning!

very true about the german connection, but a large influx of germans arrived post world war two and they most definitely were of the Nazi kind. Hard to be found and prosecuted
To suggest that the influx of the controlling minds of the Nazi movement has had a significant impact on the racial make-up of a country with a population of 185 million is utterly preposterous.

In any event most escaping Nazis ended up in Paraguay and, as has been posted, Argentina.

The architect who designed Brasilia, Oscar Niemeyer, was, unsurprisingly, of German descent, although born in Brazil in 1907. He only died a few months ago.

Yes everything is done with a bribe over there. In the flavelas there should be no electricity or running water as the houses are built on land that was not designated for residence yet 90% of people have satellite tv, telephones and internet. Its a lesson in mans survival instincts and the police have to be bribed for day to day things to happen. Classic example one guy who I worked with has moved there and has an IT business there and it kept getting broken into. He would call the police and they would tell him he needed "private security" or if he liked they would take the money for security and watch the shop for him because low and behold they were "private security" out of hours. Suffice to say as soon as he paid the first bit of money for this non existent security firm he can leave the doors of his shop unlocked and no one will take a thing. These payments are now part of his monthly out goings along normal expenses and he pays the police direct.

Crazy stuff. Wouldn't know where to even start to solve a problem like that.

I know a few favelas have been made safe and family friendly, but there doesn't seem to be the political will to make more like this.

Still, the women are fit!! :)

Isn't there a place called London in Brazil built as an English settlement of something weird, just remember reading about it once

Yes, it's actually called Londrina (literally Londoner) and was founded by British railway engineers. It's in Parana in the south of the country about 400 Km from Curitiba.

I wasn't necessarily saying they had a significant impact, just pointing out that there was A Nazi element.

I was directly responding to the OP. On that basis your response to my post was, to significant extent, a non-sequitur.

I wish I knew how to get those little faces that everybody uses, I'd pick a very chastened one

I have a nice sharp razor, a steady hand and a very long rough tongue if she needs some help
