Breaking records/stats thread

Otamendi had more sucessful passes (122) than the entire Newcastkecteam (115) - that has to be a top flight record - surely.

If it wasn't for Bobby Madley we would probably have 60/60 points.

I found a post in the prematch thread and want to comment it:

Even if we lose tonight then ours is a better achievement. Playing Chelsea, Rags, Pool, Arsenal and Spurs and winning is much tougher than what the Munich team had to deal with and we don’t care about other leagues either.

Really?

That 19-win-series was after the treble season as part of a 53-matches-without-loss series and a 33-away-matches-without-loss series.

Your team still has to show something - that Bayern team then already had won the treble that no team in Germany ever had won. That series was just one of so many records Bayern made in that two seasons. That was the biggest achievement - not to be confident with the biggest win of the club in decades but to still go on and on and on...

Remember that 2:3 loss in the 6th match against Manchester in the Champions League - that was in the middle of that series. It was short before the winter break - Bayern had rushed into a 2:0 lead and had full control of the match and somehow lost it and could not get back into

I do not think that the bigger teams are the problems with that series - it is not that any of this teams really is stronger than your team. It is the small and unconvenient teams that your players might underestimate - especially how difficult it is to break down busses - that might be the biggest difficulty. I think that you saw that really the recent weeks.

Bayern's series started a week after that Leverkusen match that I still think was one of the best matches Bayern had with Pep - the weekend after the match in Manchester in October. 78% possession against another CL team with 27 shots and 11 shots on target. Problem was only that their goal was jinxed and Bayern only got a draw at the end. And it ended a week after Bayern won the league with a draw in Hoffenheim (and the following week with a loss against Augsburg) when Pep started to go in heavy rotation mode playing some U23 players because of the CL quarter finals.

-------------------

I do not think this is a bigger achievement. Maybe for Pep as at that time it still was Jupp's and van Gaal's team that he overtook in his first season - whereas here there is more of his own fingerprint to be seen with the players he developed. Your opponents in the EPL are as far away as the ones in the Bundesliga were from Bayern - especially as I think that for Bayern's opponents it was always the match of the year especially as it was the treble team with superstar coach Pep in the reign. And Pep was not used to the pressing style in the Bundesliga in which all teams were running their asses off. But your team should be "hungrier" as you haven't won trophies like that Bayern team had and it should be easier for your team to keep the concentration high.

We only need 11/18 wins to equal Chelsea's record of most wins in a season (30)

12/18 wins to break it.

Very doable.

It is but with such a gap you may see us playing weaker teams and not trying as hard in the prem games.

Sorry if it's already been mentioned but how many away wins in the Prem are we on?
