Breaking records/stats thread

Apologies if it's already been covered but has anyone mentioned whether the Wolves game counts in the sequence of consecutive wins yet? I bumped into Dave Whelan yesterday to ask his opinion but he was too busy talking about some incident where he broke his leg in an FA Cup final.

After much debate on here the consensus is that we continued the run...

Yep some will say that. However myself and quite a few others would disagree.
Whatever floats your boat I guess.
Doesn’t really matter anyway as we went though to the next round and that’s the most important thing :)

I'm really not sure why it wouldn't constitute a win, when we won? Or did Wolves go through Instead?

It's a victory, no matter how it's decided.

We can now add to this most ever passes completed since OPTA started records and also the best ever start to a PL season.

The 'passes' record is something special as it could be the highest in the last 50 years or more?
Teams didn't pass like City do now, Liverpool in their pomp ?

City completed 844 passes against West Brom; the most by a team in the Premier League since the start of the 2003-04 season. [BBC]
Thanks hadn't seen that, the scoreline certainly didn't reflect the game I listened too on the GMR commentary, but it didn't come over as one of our better passing games either. Only seen highlights so hard to judge from that.

We pulled brom all over the place but i didn't think it was as many passes as that either

I suppose if they drop off us, we could have 100 pointless sideways passes, so while record, it may not be that special. The Chelsea game for instance was obviously lower, but we pulled them all over the pitch, and they have far better players, so for me more impressive, but as I said I only listened, and saw highlights, so can't really comment on how good that stat actually is.

Decent graphic from Sky's Monday Night Football:

Fair to say we're doing alright.

That 844 passes is almost 10 per minute on average,so every 6 seconds roughly. Total football, keep the ball, look after it and make goals with it,it’s beautiful to watch but must be very difficult to play against, tiring mentally and physically.

Wish you got the screen capture of Gary Neville looking totally pissed off at these states not once but twice. To be fair he was very complementary of city thru gritted teeth.
I'm also looking forward to the extended interview with Kevin.

For the last three league games, a City player has come on as a sub and completed more passes than any opposition player.

7-2 v Stoke, Yaya made 61 passes in 18 minutes, their most was 18. (In this game every City player including subs and keeper made more successful passes than any Stoke player.)
3-0 v Burnley, Yaya made 26 passes in 13 minutes, their most was 20.
3-2 v WBA, Gundogan made 22 passes in 9 minutes, their most was 21.

I know pass completion isn't the most important stat but it's still quite interesting.
