Breaking records/stats thread

Hence their peak date being in April, probably just before they had a meltdown against Chelsea in the CL and still had the league title in their hands.
There’s a lot on that list with peak dates that arent near the end of the season. Suggesting for the ones near the start/middle that it’s a continuation of the previous end of season form, before falling away… if that’s how the figures are worked out.
There’s precious few that are peaked near the end of the season.
It’s also interesting that this years City is the only City representation in the top 164. No centurions or fourmidables.

Not the way it works, our 2020 ranking is down the page in the #1v#2 list and it's high enough to be #10 on the all time list. I think they break it down into phases differently, so this side might be the highest ranked expression of 1 City side from 2017-2023.

Correct

yes, but there's load of United's, which is why I thought it odd.

2008, 2001, 2021, 1985... All markedly different sides. The 2001 team is the highest expression of their treble winning squad etc.
Edit: I do find it strange that the team under Mancini and Pellegrini don't get an entry in the longer list though, even if their Euro performances would have stopped team featuring too highly. Our rating of 1916 on 13/5/12 should be in there.

Agreed. The site’s rule used to be the highest recorded in 5 year period then I seem to remember they moved it to 7 but there looks to be exceptions to both. If they just kept it to the highest rating each team had ever reached it would have been more straightforward.

I do know that the National press quite often quote the figures in relation to all time great teams but they will probably stop now we are near the top!

Either way it would be quite something to have the highest rating of any team ever. 18 more needed.

Was it the quickest goal in city's history?
We were discussing that on the way home.

I can remember a couple of ridiculously quick goals against City at Maine Road in the mid 80s
Boro 83-84 must have been around 10-15 seconds and Blackpool scored similar in the LC in 84-85

There must be a City one but it escapes me.

Noticed on the stairwells coming out the ground - quickest goal in fa cup and ever (vase cup) were both beaten.

To be against United as well it will stand for some time yet.

Should hope the stairwell is updated by the time of my next visit - in August lol !

Good article takes a swipe at the likes of Liverpool and United drawing a convenient timeline when moaning About other clubs lack of history….

100

This is quite incredible stat: Man City have scored 100+ goals more than they've conceded in three of the last five seasons (18-19, 21-22, 22-23). Prior to Pep Guardiola's arrival, no English top-flight side had ever scored 100+ more than they had conceded in a single campaign.
