Brentford (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

That was the best we've played in weeks, We've won games against Leicester and West Ham being way off it, Yet tonight we've played better and we've blown a two goal lead with ten minutes to play.

Feels like a defeat, We miss far too many chances, The game should have been done and dusted. The problem is at the other end too, Shambles defensively for both goals.

Sums up the problem. Unless we’re playing utter shite sides we get found out.

The fact we are yet to bring a midfielder in is utter negligence. But the board has rested on their laurels ever since the treble winning season.

Throwing away a 2-0 lead yet again sums this season up. Our central midfield is on its arse, yet he won’t try anything different, and we’re in the window for a centre forward and two centre halves. This isn’t the last game we will throw away this season

The already insufferable McAtee fanclub (already pretty much as bad as the Palmer one) got what they were constantly wailing for with Pep bringing him on to supposedly "control the game"

He then proceeded to miss a sitter just before Brentford equalise.
Nothing to do with the entire midfield and defence collapsing then?

How frustrating was that on a scale of 1-10. We look so vulnerable at the back. How many times do we give the ball back to the opponent just outside our box. We create our own problems.....terrible. Feel sorry for Pep, some of this stuff is not his fault. Brentford were there for the taking. We badly need an out and out goalscorer. Haaland cannot be relied on every time we play. 3pts tossed off.

That was 2 games in 1 and we were awful in both of them. First game was the 85 minutes before they finally scored. we were crap but we got away with it time and time again and somehow had the game all but won at 2-0.

The second game was the last 10 and the pathetic mentality to play keep ball instead of trying to finish the game. We had multiple chances to go at them and get the third and yet we try and run down the clock and actively ignore the chance to score knowing full well we are fucking abysmal defensively and will likely crumble again.

That's peps shit instructions, players aren't naturally opposed to trying to score.

If Brentford were on it tonight, they'd have beaten us by a similar scoreline to Bournemouth. How have we not brought a midfielder in? Team is desperate for energy in the middle and Pep brings on (with respect) the 34 year old Gundogan.

Fumin with Haaland. Leading up to their first goal he was walking around for 5 minutes shaking his head looking at the floor with his shoulders down like a spoilt little wakner. That attitude spreads, sort it out Pep.
Well done Ake for not making me go out of the house at the end to kick a cat.
His body language at times looks awful like hes sulking

Peps arrogant we’ve won this Subs at 2-0 bites us on the arse for the 47th time
The first sub was at 1-0 when we were getting battered. 2nd at 2-0 for fresh legs and a lad who helped change the game at Leicester and bagged a hatrick last week.

Really good game and a really good point, we ain't back yet but we are certainly heading in the right direction.
Exactly. People just moaners. We been much better than recently, even when won games. We conceded many chances, but felt overally we had more and better ones. Defence lacking Dias and Stones. They gonna be back.

First of all great game. Yeah gutted didn’t win but you have to say Brentford had their chances. Kev purring again, foden scoring, more tenacity and energy. Savinho dangerous. Harland better hold up play. Yeah could have been more clinical but then so could opposition. Still fragile at the back but less so. And our ability to kill a game off when ahead seems to have gone. But I’m feeling better about top four now. Let’s not get dragged into what commentators were trying to do and talk this into being a catastrophe. It wasn’t.
Stop talking sense

What's the fucking point, Ffs Pep
Negligent to bring on Gundo, he simply can’t run. Kev was running on fumes too.

That was crying out to bring on Grealish - keep easy possession, win fouls etc.

Can’t believe Sav blotted his copybook with a non-attempt to pressure the cross. Big learning curve still but he was a real bright spot the rest of the game.

Fuck me, how many times are we going to do this to ourselves???
