This thread is making me think I watched a different game - one where we were defensively sound with Kovacic on the pitch, and we had numerous defensive midfield options on the bench but Gundogan came on instead and scored two own goals. In reality, the Gundogan change made absolutely no difference whatsoever to that result. None.

It's not Gundogan coming on that's the problem. It's the players not coming on that should have before HIM!! Like players who can run and close opposition players down.

Maybe Pep might realise that Gundogen really isn't the fucking answer. And unfortunately Akanjis becoming a liability. MacAtee to win it, 10 seconds later it's in the back of our net. I have no fucking words. Haaland really needs to pull his fuckin finger out too. That header straight at the fuckin keeper. I thought Kev was very good and looked like his old self for a good part of the game, but last 20 mins he was done..so Pep keeps him on along with grandad Gundog and suddenly they get a foothold. Lucky not to lose it at the end as well. We need fresh legs in..and fuckin quick!!

Agree about Haaland. He has to be picked on his current performances which are not particularly near good. Rather play without a CF atm. We won the PL like that so its not like it doesn't work.

I think the posters talking about how this is an improvement over November/December are right. There's still a long way to go. Hopefully the two kids at CB will help out, and Akanji and Gvardiol can find their form. And Marmoush will help the attack.

But christ do we need midfield help. Like now.

And the rumor mill is scary silent on that front. There have been plenty of defensive lapses this year, but their under so much pressure because they just aren't getting any help at all. Not saying that it is an excuse, but it has contributed mightily to our giving up goals left and right.

grealish must be incredibly out of favour - he does have the ability to close down and work back and draws a foul brilliantly.
