Totally agree can’t really understand why we bought him think he has shown no quality what so ever and he was not cheap.
Slow with the ball, think he reads the game bad, Bad to cover the ball we could have got far better player for that Mooney.

But to the game great first half second was not so great, we should have closed it in the first half Foden and Reijnder should have scored on their chances. To be a little negative we must start to tap in those typ of chances we did a great first half but with the second we did we could easily lost the 3 points

Donnarumma's distribution needs to improve. On a few occasions when he had collected the ball after the breakdown of a Brentford attack he held onto the ball for too long when we appeared to have an outlet and a potential breakaway. Despite his excellent save he nearly managed to score an own goal
I cannot figure out why we no longer seem to be able to let our wingers play in a natural role. Both Bobb and Savinho appeared more interested in keeping possession rather than taking their man on. Shades of Grealish. Bobb showed on a couple of occasions he had the beating of his man.
We no longer seem to have a player who can come on and close a game down. For me Bernardo is not that man.
Brentford are rather like Wimbledon of old so think we did well to come away with the 3 points. Low bar I know but we held on.

Good post. Thought the goalie and defence played well but dear me our attack and midfield needs to improve especially when we play better teams. Bobb and Savinho seem incapable or under instructions not to take their man on of make something happen. There were several occasions where we won the ball well 40 yes from goal in good attacking positions only to slow down to a crawl

That's a horrible comparison.
 
We also need to utilise the ball in behind more, it worked for our goal and we have a player in Haaland that will win a ball down the channel most of the time, just play it in! The pass was there 3-4 times but we checked back and kept it going side to side.
 
This thread is bizarre. Very tough place to go to and we come away with three points without conceding many chances against us. Nico G was fine when he came on for Rodri, Bobb was lively first half as was Savinho and other boo boys like Nunes was fine apart from one stupid chip over a Brentford players head in his own 18 yard box.

Cheer up you bunch of miserable fuckers.

Pluses - we won the game (!) without playing particularly well. Thought O'Reilly and Dias really good, and Donnarumma's save at the start of the 2nd half was huge; that goes in and its a completely different game. Also thought Gonzalez did ok as well though I might be the only one.

Minuses - no idea why Doku was dropped for Savinho or how Savinho managed to play the full 90. Also amazed that against an opponent slinging long throw after long throw into our box, alongside corners, John Stones was sat on his arse for the entire game when it was crying out for his introduction in the 2nd half.

We need to put the ball near the big man far earlier and far more often - we did it once in the first half and scored off it, yet never seemed to have any appetite for doing so again. Our wingers crossing and decision making in the final third is putrid atm - both Savinho and Bobb guilty today; very little to nothing happens when they have the ball in dangerous areas.

Nice to eke out the 3pts before a 2 week break and when we were way off our best. Rest up and go again in 2 weeks.
 
The 3 points are all important. Ill get that out the way.

First half, played well, direct, created chances for the big man and others, shouldve been out of sight.

Then the second half and a return to flat passing, players switching off, letting them back in the game. Its happened a good few times now thisnseason

Either pep is being out-coached at half time or we have too many players who are mentally week and cant stay switched on for 90 minutes.
Id say both opinions are probably true.

We have too many very average players who can do ok for 45 mins but second half are awful
And pep sticks with plan A to get us across the line where as other coaches are switching at half time and pep isnt reacting or cant with the players we have
