Brentford (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

My friend had his wallet searched as well by a young steward who had a bad attitude.

I was stood next to my friend as the steward took my friends wallet off him and began looking through his wallet.

Are stewards allowed to do this?

Surely they are not?

What the fuck is going on with football where no mark, gobby, teenagers, are allowed to look through people's wallets and private possession?
Had to hand my wallet over yesterday for steward to rummage through, are they really legally allowed to do this. Never had it before. The lad had a very arrogant attitude.

Brilliant first half with a lot of positives from our MF and wide positions, topped off by a masterclass in goal scoring from Haaland….

Second half was abysmal by contrast. Lacked any real goal threat and the players looked gassed after 50 mins. Haaland dropped deeper into MF to receive the ball and we continued with the ridiculous high line defensively…..I think pep needs to have a plan to close games out because it’s very risky at the minute.

All that said, we are 3 points off the top and actually could have been evens if we’d managed to hold off Arsenal the other week…lots to be positive about and surely we are due a bit of luck on the injury situation….

Onwards blues.

Think this is the most balanced post on here.

This one is for @Dodge. I went to Brentford yesterday with my youngest, fully aware of what the Brentford stewards are like after knowing of Dodge’s experiences and the repercussions. Despite this I was speaker to so rudely by one of the younger stewards at the entry (frisk) point that I reacted by asking why he thought he could talk to me like that. Despite having frisked me he told me (told not asked to empty my pockets), which I did and he asked me what was in my wallet - the “wallet” is a City one, literally tiny and credit card sized. He asked me what was in it - I told him (truthfully) that it was (a) my debit card (b) my bus pass and (c) my stroke association card (I had a stroke 4 months ago, and no not from mrs swales). He told me (aggressively) to take the cards out and show me inside (there is literally no room for anything other than these cards) and he had a look inside. I asked him what he expected to find inside - he said cocaine! I laughed and said I am a 66 year old retired accountant who is recovering from a stroke, and surely if I had cocaine one of the sniffer dogs would be all over me, stop being so stupid. At this another older steward came over and advised me that if I caused any more trouble (lol) I wouldn’t be going in. The way they spoke to me I wasn’t ready to accept however fortunately my occasionally sensible 16 year old son came over and said dad don’t say anything and just get into the ground. The older one said sarcastically at least your son has got sense, somewhat inflammatory given I’d done nothing wrong). I decided to agree with my lad and walk off. I have to say the stewards at the search point are twats who are looking to deliberately antagonise people (maybe not all of them but from several years experience many of them) and despite me knowing what they are like from what happened to Dodge I still fell for their antagonistic behaviour. Tbf I’ve never seen any issues from the stewards inside the ground, but beware of the cunts outside. Just to conclude, just after this I passed a sniffer dog, and safe to say it took no interest in my bus pass and stroke association card
Report this word for word to the club.

Don't think it was a penalty - Bobb seemed to slip as he was trying to turn on a sixpence (small silver piece of old money for those who are only conversant with decimal currency).
Yeah, a "slip" with two hand firmly pushed into his back (which the defender then did again as he tried to get up). It may be a soft one but I still think it's a pen.

Let's be honest, the 2nd half was a hard watch.
Nowhere near as hard a watch as the 2nd half of Brentford at home in the last game before the Qatar World Cup! We got battered that day and were lucky to come away with a 2-1 defeat with Kev clearing one off the line after they'd scored their 96th minute winner. Yesterday wasn't pretty in the 2nd half but they still only had the one shot on target.

I suppose they have to check ..... I suppose you could possibly be carrying a small penknife, or small dart maybe in a wallet, etc , if you were so inclined, i don't know .... but we do live in violent and uncertain times.

So long as they don't take the wallet off you for longer than is absolutely necessary, and its all done within plain sight of yourself, it's probably best to just let them get on with it .... that's what I'd do anyway, at least that way I'd get to see the match on time!

Kicking off with stewards or security staff is always a loser, because they're only doing a job they have to do.

First half was a masterclass in controlled football, albeit against a defensive Brentford, but there aren't any gimmes in the PL so credit to the team for that. If only we had two other players with a killer instinct in front of goal and that game would have been done at h/t.

What followed was a masterclass in forgetting what just happened. It's as if a collective fugue descends upon the dressing room and they come out for the 2nd half looking like strangers, unable to replicate what they'd just done on the pitch.

Very weird. Felt sorry for Bobb being subbed and Savinho staying on, not the right call imo.

They are obviously working under orders, and as such it's difficult to see them being held responsible for anything, by the club or their company ... their mandate is simply to keep everyone safe in the ground, whatever it takes ..... mind you it wouldn't kill them to be a bit more pleasant about it!

It must be different stewards, i was simply patted down

They won't do anything if searching fans wallets as they enter the ground is on their stewards/security staffs job sheets!!
Not sure which club you expect me to write to? Given what happened to Dodge Brentford are going to do absolutely fuck all, City as it not being their stewards will be able to do fuck all. They can get away with it, and will continue to do so

That’s alright then, it’s ok for some twat to speak to me and treat me like an absolute piece of shit for no reason then, fucking hell

If their mandate is to speak to sober disabled pensioners (which unfortunately I am now both) like shit and treat them like shit for the temerity of simply entering a football ground, then society is fucked
