Brentford (A) | Post Match Thread

A few weeks ago it was all about how we had to win 8/9/10 games to win a treble, get past the mighty Bayern and Real, overcome the gap to Arsenal, it was very unlikely all the pundits said.

Well now it's 2, and our first team has had more rest and preparation time in the last 2 weeks than the 20 weeks before it.

Thank god the Premier League season is over, it has been a long season with the midwinter world cup,
But after the world cup Manchester City showed why we win titles and with 3 games in hand to boot,
Pure class right across the board. We earned the right to be resting players and coasting the last 3 games with
the 2 biggest games in Manchester City history to come,

I am in the old-school camp that hates losing any game when the first team pull on the shirt and wears the badge.
but we have to look at the bigger picture and they are meaningless games that anything could happen to the key players,

Look you don't want your best players carrying knocks or blowing after 30 minutes at Wembley or in the champions league final, That Wembley pitch will find you out if you running on empty, The City players will keep the ball and run the united players ragged because they have had to play most of the first team to get top 4,

The funny thing that dawns on you is that in the space of a week and being crowd Champions of England again, fans me included are never happy when city lose

If we played our strongest team and say Rodri, KDB, Erling or any of the starting 11 got injured there would be uproar about playing our strongest team and risking players for a meaningless game, now we can concentrate on Saturday with our strongest team that are now fully rested, also the players who have not played too much over the season have now got good game time, which we may or may not need.

Phillips offered nothing, when we did arrive anywhere near the final third, he's passing to nobody, mate.

Gomez wouldn't make it at Southampton, he's not good enough.

As you say, Mahrez is his usual crap self.

They aren’t good enough for us
Let us kill the Rags on saturday ;-)
After that we do the same to Inter
Absolutely. Our best team has Foden ahead of Mahrez for both games.

More likely Phil will get off the bench before Mahrez does.
i Will have bernardo in the team too

That was a bit shit. Personally, and I might be in the minority, think momentum is a massive deal so shame to see the last 3 games be limp affairs really but it is what it is.

As long as Dias, Rodri, Kev, Grealish and Haaland are fit and ready for the next 2 games then they won’t let themselves down/let games be damp squids IMO.

If we’d have had to win it on the last day then we’d have been cursing the players running themselves into the ground so having it this way is probably the better of the two.

Up the Champions, blues!

Thought Dias not being involved over the last week was strange.

FFS, that isn’t good news. Never mind today’s result.

That is worrying.
Both Grealish and Dias was on the bench vs Chelsea, seems wierd if they didnt train before that game…

Yeah our best balance in the big games this season has actually been Bernardo on the right and Grealish on the left.

Mahrez does have big game prior though, could be useful off the bench.

Wimbledon of old football they do it very well and keep the ball well they so hard to break down fair dos to them
