Brentford (H) | Post-Match Thread

Happy Birthday Saddeworth ...My 73rd today .Typical City . Got to go out for a meal with the family and appear happy,
Thank you. And the same to you Nelly. So I cooked a steak on the BBQ and cracked open a very good bottle of red. I am over it. Shit happens. Hope you enjoy your meal and the rest of your Birthday mate.

It's not just the pace of individual players though is it? It's the pace with which we move the ball forwards. At times we spend eons moving the ball from side to side with the centre backs before passing it back to Eddie and the whole process begins again. Even when presented with opportunity of a break we do this. It is easy for teams to all get back and set up like this, they don't even have to be particularly athletic.
Apologies, I posted basically your post without reading!

Still not that worried in terms of the title. When going toe to toe with Liverpool there was virtually no margin for error, but I still think this Arsenal team will drop a fair few points themselves. They’re a good side, but certainly not a great one yet.

Bad day at the office, however we have won 16 out of the last 17 home games so all not bad and no need to panic. The run had to come to an end sometime. Brentford up for it from the start we weren't. On the chances they created they deserved the win.
Hopefully the team come back in 6 weeks time hungry and focused on retaining the title.

A few observations from Leicester, Fulham, Brentford games
- we are really struggling to break down 5 man defence.
- this tactic will be more common the more it succeeds. it clearly nullifies Haaland.
- no point in constantly playing though the middle, need more width, overlapping wide.
- bernado is wasted/ineffective on right. Always cuts inside, as does Cancello on left.Bernado central midfield, DeBruyne on right.
- more threat needed on right. I would have tempted to bring on Lewis today.
- transition from defence to attack far too slow. In fairness to Brentford they didn’t just sit back like Leicester, Rodri and Gundogan are so slow breaking forward.
- finally, controversiall, are we too focussed on getting the ball to Haaland, making us predictable and more rigid than false nine days.

Same was said about Leicester the season they won the title.

So on Wednesday most of the forum where bemoaning the fact grealish and mahrez where playing against Chelsea. Yet now because pep didn’t take off gundogan and foden (who just scored an unbelievable equaliser) at half time he is in the wrong.

This place is mental after a bad result. We where up against a 5 at the back so we needed width to stretch the pitch. Unfortunately due to injury (as well as neglect in transfer window) we only have one senior fit full back.

The players didn’t turn up, they clearly had the World Cup on their minds (which is a career highlight for most players). It’s that simple.
It’s not that simple they cheated the fans today who spend a lot of money. It’s not about getting beat, it’s the selfish attitude of the players in not making any effort due to the World Cup.
