Brentford (H) | Post-Match Thread

We've looked lethargic since Copenhagen away, we weren't going to get away with it every game, I think Guardiola is trolling us at this point with the lack of subs, that's all I can think of.
 
We set the tone in the first 10 minutes, pockets of decent play but that was about it.

Too many off any sort of form. Haaland didn’t look match fit and Akanji has been bang average the past few games he’s played.

Incredibly frustrating that Pep didn’t make more substitutions given the performance but he’s a stubborn bugger and we know that’s his thing.

It was always a risk, an 85% performance, and that’s what we got.

A couple of very good saves from Eddie but he got left high and dry by a poor defensive performance.
 
Shit result and shit performance. Reckon there will be a few wonky results this weekend though with players minds in Qatar. Hopefully but unlikely one will be Wolves getting something. Last love Pep, but never ever will John Stones be a fecking RB.
 
I know we are renowned for our generosity but that was taking the piss. Still think we'll claw it back after WC. Some very questionable decisions by ref and VAR but not excuses really. Shite from start to finish. Are well Brentford did more to win. Julian should have been on earlier as Cancelo wasted a lot of chances to cross and less than dynamic.
 
20 plus shots so bad in front of goal. Wasn't happening Alvarez should of been on earlier we are at home he's scored in last 3 games with the chances we were creating maybe him on earlier would of helped. So bad a world cup up coming so many didn't give a fuck with World Cup upcoming. Not much we can do or Pep you just knew we were going through the motions but those early games can be where you get shock results this season sadly it was our turn to take 1 on the chin. The break will be good for all.
 
We were absolutely shocking today as a team defensively and going forward. Not going to single players out as they were all as bad as eachother.
Yes the ref was poor today but overall we never really looked like getting a winner, If anything we got what we deserved, Brentford had more clear cut opportunities today. Yes it's a shit result especially heading into the World Cup we now have a long wait to put things right.

Let's suck it up and move onto the next one, Credit were it's due Brentford were good today not many teams create so many chances agaisnt us but they did.

Still a long way to go people, We'll certainly be in with a massive shout come May!
 
Deserved nothing from the game.

I cannot get over how bad our defending long balls was. It’s fucking embarrassing that we don’t have a CB who can head a fucking football. Their fucking keeper is taking free-kicks on the halfway line FFS.

This Stones at RB experiment needs fucking off once and for all. We have a CB playing RB. A RB playing LB and a LB on the bench.

Anyone who thinks we are running away with this league is fucking deluded. I could count on one hand how many top PL performances we have put in this season and Arsenal are more than a match for us on current form.
 
The last goal, and the almost hat trick goal, had Kev, Gundo and Haaland as the only players to bother getting back. Took our actual central defenders minutes to bother to show up. This one is on the defense.

Gundo is a cracking player to be able to bring on as a sub.

A little hasty there. It’s only 14 games in, we’ve a tricky tie at Wolves tonight so nothing guaranteed there and you have a much stronger squad than us. We are more vulnerable to injuries to key players than you. I fully expect you guys to win the league again comfortably. Our aim is to secure top 4.
 
Disjointed. Disappointing. Disinterested (certainly in the opening 20 when city players looked like they had their minds on this stupidly timed world cup and Brentford were having a party). Sure we can criticise Brentford for abject time wasting but we waited far too long to change it. If we had won taking cancelo off it would have looked inspired. As it was it lost us a point. Terrible.
