Fair point, actually. That bit was a tad too subtle for me.

well it's clear to the rest of us that he'd risen to the challenge, had no need to prove himself...

Maybe he wouldn't butter up an owner who was too upper crust for him? Warburton was a bit jammy to get the job considering his background - Brentford are currently sandwiched between Wolves and Norwich chasing a play off spot so they may regret not spending that dough in the last window....

from what the Brentford fan said on 606 apparently Warburton blocked any new signings in January, which pissed the owner off as he'd wanted to put several million in to bring in a few players to strengthen the squad and take them up. Guess those differences were enough to make the owner think he'd want a different character in in the summer.

That's pretty much spot on. One detail left out is the one put on gardening leave (Frank McParland) is the one suspected of leaking the story to the press before the crucial play-off six pointer against Watford, which they inevitably lost. Bit gutted personally, with Brentford my second team and all. Managed to make to the Charlton away game on Saturday, the players looked totally lost. Worst performance all season. Shame to get so high up the league when they were favourites for relegation material and then go piss it all up the wall thanks to management tension.
