What is it about gooners? Are they all accountants or something? This idea that a football club's first priority is to balance the books, and only then to win trophies seems to me to be ludicrous.
Imagine gooners running a hospital: 'the most important thing is to make sure that staff costs are met by additional car parking charges. If we cure any patients, that's an added bonus but frankly we're not expecting to.'
Can there be any other business where the customers see it as a virtue that they are charged more than anyone else, the company suffers from a chronic lack of investment, and the profits go on dividends to the already wealthy shareholders at their expense?
I bet the directors of the privatised utilities wish all their customers were Arsenal fans.
