He is just another bitter gooner who just needs to be ignored.

What is it about gooners? Are they all accountants or something? This idea that a football club's first priority is to balance the books, and only then to win trophies seems to me to be ludicrous.

Imagine gooners running a hospital: 'the most important thing is to make sure that staff costs are met by additional car parking charges. If we cure any patients, that's an added bonus but frankly we're not expecting to.'

Can there be any other business where the customers see it as a virtue that they are charged more than anyone else, the company suffers from a chronic lack of investment, and the profits go on dividends to the already wealthy shareholders at their expense?

I bet the directors of the privatised utilities wish all their customers were Arsenal fans.

Or where investing major capital - not by directors loans, or borrowing from third parties - to improve a company's position in the market is regarded as a form of cheating?

I think Glanville was in a bad mood because he'd stopped at his local petrol station. They told him they'd invested in brand new pumps but hadn't attracted enough sponsorship to be allowed to buy any petrol.

apart from the ludicrous assertion that colin schindler was 'always a devoted city fan' he makes a fool of himself by suggesting that city 1968 championship winning side was full of mancunians when in fact neil young was the only manc in it. alan oakes, like his cousin glyn pardoe, was from winsford and mike doyle was from stockport.

Plus Tony Book (Bath),Heslop (Geordie), Summerbee (Preson was it), Bell (Geordie),Lee (Bolton) and a full Scouser Coleman !! Can`t remember where Ken Mulhearn was born.

We mustn't forget those mancunions from the swamp aswell

De gay Evra Camelgob Evans nani

Spot on, acuntents all of em.

A Gooner having a go at us for having little local talent in the first team?

As for money being a 'blight' on the game, Arsenal, were they not, simply a franchise that bought a seat at the top table i.e. Division One.

Arsenal were shite but basically bought Huddersfield Town, the best team of that era.

He's a hypocritical nob.

There are two types of football journalist. Those who were influenced by Brian Glanville and those who should have been. At one time he was about the only English journalist to know anything of substance about football outside Britain. In the pre-Fever Pitch era his book about the World Cup was the only one on the subject worth reading, for example. But he's in his eighties now, and has been trading on his previous reputation for many years. He relies on the same old tired stories of yesteryear that he's written many times before to fill out his columns. He was a good journalist in his day, but his profession has long since left him behind.

All of which is a longwinded way of saying that while his pontifications about City are nonsense, I'm willing to forgive him because he's a doddery old bloke. Its not really a surprise that he struggles to come to terms with the way the game has changed. That said you'd think his editor would have a quiet word about retirement.

I have had the misfortune of being in his vicinity on more than one occasion over the years, and he always did give off the definite whiff of predatory paedophile

Wonder if he wrote about the Arsenal invincibles season as having nothing to do with North London?

And of course, there are loads of Londoners in the Arsenal team.
