BRIAN Kidd is being lined up as the man to discover City's stars of the future.
As the Blues claimed a place in the Premier League's top four with a 1-0 win at Portsmouth, it became clear that former United and City star Kidd is to be confirmed as the latest addition to the Blues' academy.
Kidd played a key role in scouting and coaching the players who helped United dominate English football in the 1990s, such as Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, David Beckham and the Neville brothers.
Now the 60-year-old is favourite for a role working with 15 to 18-year-olds at Platt Lane after being out of the game since quitting as Portsmouth assistant manager last season.
City boss Mark Hughes announced last week that the club will focus more on scouting and their academy, rather than spending huge amounts in the transfer market, and Kidd's impending appointment is part of that strategy.
Kidd will be brought in by new academy head Andy Welsh, another former United coach.
