Brighton and Hove Albion PL (H) | Post Match Thread

Ground full of tutting and moaning wankers today.

This City team had just three starters from what would be considered our strongest team just 20 months ago.

We are not a top side anymore, we are nowhere fucking near one. We are a team full of young inexperienced lads, new signings who are inexperienced in our league with the odd player from our successful recent past.

We are not a top side anymore. Expectations need to drop fucking massively!

The crowd acted like it was our top side of the last 8 years playing shite. Didn’t get behind them, moaned at everything that wasn’t perfect, got on the backs of those making mistakes… the stands were a fucking disgrace today, hang your fucking heads in shame!

Just as we attacked to score our second, someone made a mistake and everyone around me fucking moaned like fuck. I shouted ‘STOP FUCKING MOANING!’ and then BANG Marmoush put us ahead… then as it quietened down I had a go at everyone around me for being moaning cunts.

Critiquing the game after it’s finished is one thing - we weren’t great today and there are a lot of things missing from the team/squad… but being like that while play is going on in the ground is for cunts.

Fucking reign it in you moaning fuckers!

Now is the time to have your moan, here is the place to do it, don’t fucking get on the backs of the young lads, inexperienced players and new signings IN THE GROUND! That’s the fucking last thing they need.

And just because they aren’t providing us with great football and 4-0 wins, don’t just sit in silence waiting for it to happen… be proactive in the stands and get behind the team. And stop fucking moaning at them in the ground!

The wide players have an average (on a good day) end product. They’re Europa level players at best.

Rodri will solve some of the midfield issues but we badly need a world class attacking mid for next season even if it means breaking the bank.

Ortega - Shocking distribution
Lewis - OK
Khusanov - Shaky
Dias - Half fit
Gvardiol - Can’t defend
Nico - Anonymous
Gundogan - One of his better games
Doku - Sensational but no end product
Marmoush - Always dangerous, why was he substituted
Savinho - Started well but faded badly
Haaland - Did next to nothing
Bernado - Got injured
Foden - Why is he in the England squad
De Bruyne - Should have been on earlier
Pep - not really here.

We scored twice at home. That should be enough shouldn’t it? I wasn’t at the game, but aren’t there bigger problems elsewhere in the team?

Do you think at any point that doku should have understood this and not put the ball at the feet of 3 defenders? While I agree it's been 2 years since someone ran front post It does works both ways.
No, I watched his performance closely the second half and if you don't have anyone to pass to every time because your team mates are running to the back post, and your busting a gut to get to the goal.line and cross the ball it's really hard to get the ball to them. This is down to coaching. Pep should see this and tell one of Mamoush, Haaland and Gundo to run towards the ball. But he doesn't. As to why Gundo stays on for the entire game I have no idea. Bringing KDB on for 5 mins to try and change it was criminal.

Need to try to find a settled first eleven now for the run in. Too much chopping and changing isn’t helping. Get injuries not helped. Earlier subs if needs be from that position (fat chance of that obviously). Not been this nervous about a looming derby for about a decade.

Nico a panic buy, pretty obvious he was last pick otherwise we would have activated his RC January 1st. One thing we needed was legs and we buy arguably one of the slowest players about. Doku and Savinho can’t be starters next season if we want to get back to where we was.
I like Gonzalez, he's a lot slower than i thought he'd be, but he's good on the ball and good positionally. That position needed to be filled and he looks good there, I'm really looking forward seeing him next to Rodri.

But yeah we do need more pace in midfield, so will we buy a box to box midfielder or is Foden, Bobb or O'Reilly pencilled in there...

Doku and Savinho are both good players but i would swap wings and see how that goes for a few games.

Lucky to get away with a point if we’re being honest. I don’t even really get angry any more, it’s just a reflection of where we are as a team at the moment. We’re miles off it, and top 5 feels like anything but a formality. Hopefully we’ll do enough over the rest of the season to drag ourselves over the line, but it’s been a pretty disastrous campaign all in all. Can’t begrudge them one bad season after everything they’ve achieved over the last few years, but the concern is how we turn things around. Squad feels like it needs a fairly major overhaul in the summer.

Pep saying we were better than against forest I think is worrying. We weren’t. We were away in that game against a better team and we more in control until he made those crazy subs. Today they let us off hook and we conceded two truly woeful goals and looked vulnerable throughout.

Absolutely shite, more and more questions everytime I watch us

We are so far off a title winning team it's untrue, and this isn't something that the return of Rodri will just resolve

I'd say we are probably 4 or 5 top quality additions short of challenging for the league next season

A keeper
2 fullbacks
Central player with energy
A goalscoring winger

We're actually really depressing to watch these days, it's unrecognisable vs what we've seen in the last 8 years

Be stunned if we finish in the top 5
I would make it two additions in midfield as well as the others you suggest. Plus Haaland not hanging around the far post every time. There is a near post, matey.

Sorry but Foden's game has 2 limitations.. he lacks real pace and does not put a real tackle in... he just waves a leg

Doku had no one to pass to as no one helped him in the box. Mamoush was clearly knackered at the end and should have come off 10mins before. Lewis got caught ball watching time and time again.

Very disjointed, with a severe lack of creativity.

Much better last 20 min or so. Silva played well until he was forced off.

Final ball is generally so poor. Haaland barely involved. Maybe someone needs to make him aware that there is a back post, and a front post.

If only Doku could find a City player after all his tremendous approach play.
Yes yes yes.

That’s the thing though, very few of the players out there today have achieved anything at this club.

Dias, and ageing Gundigan and Haaland were the only starters from our best team in the treble season. It’s not even that long ago and the team is nothing like it was.

We look a 4th-8th placed team. We need to adjust our expectations as a set of fans getting behind a team of that quality and stature, instead of this unrealistic and arguably deluded expectation we’ve had of our team from 2017-2024.

That’s the past, the realistic future is that of a Top4 battling team and we have to react like that in the stands.

I’m appalled at how we were in the stands today.

Ahead twice; couldn't hold on either time for longer than 10 minutes. I'm too lazy to check, but I hate to think how many points we've thrown away from winning positions in the league this season. At a guess? 10-15? Even if we'd managed to get half of those lost points, the scrap for a CL spot would be so much easier.

And yes; I'm sure the other contenders have also thrown away leads. Not sure it'd be as many as us, mind. We SEEM to have lost a lot of leads so far.
We’d likely still be balls deep in the CL too.

So Echiverri good enough for Triple world champions Argentina but not good enough for our bench , Confused not will be , I am !!
