Brighton and Hove Albion PL (H) | Post Match Thread

It feels to me like the players gave up ages ago. Now I’m not saying they ain’t trying but for all of them to underperform to this level is unusual. Outfought, outrun, outplayed.

Why? Because we have injuries? 4 in a row. We all get that. Has the above contributed? Most definitely. The squad has 1 game per week now and look even worse for it.

It can only be that they have allowed the issues to turn into excuses to underperform. It’s no wonder the fans feel it.

Football dosent stop, you go again season after seasons. I don’t expect them to win all the time, far from it. My issue is with the level we have dropped to. It’s not acceptable.

If next season is just as bad, what then?

A drop in form is totally acceptable but to play this badly is not.

That's a forum for you - an exchange of views, not just a tedious love-in for everybody to echo each others' thoughts, surely?

Posters on here who rant and rave do it because they care about the club. If they didn't, they wouldn't be arsed about it, would they?

This is NOT an excuse - no PL club could cope with that situation any better than we have - but it has affected our season. True supporters will recognise this.

Exactly, time after time there are three or four players between Doku and where we want the ball to be. He can't perform miracles, and the entire team has struggled all season (and beyond) to get past these 10 men defences we face every week, so Doku's not going to get past half a team on his own. Haaland might be better coming over for the short ball rather than waiting for a cross that 9 times out of 10 is never going to get to him.

Get used to it as them 3 main defenders are always out
 
MOTD highlighted the problems we have had all season. That is the acres of space behind our full backs and the lack of pace and energy in midfield. As Doku and Savinho don't help the full back out I'm not sure how we solve that. As for the midfield sadly we can't turn back the clock and make Gundo or Kev younger. Nico is still settling in but he doesn't seem blessed with pace or physicality but he's doing okay. The Brighton manager might think they should have won and yes they missed a sitter near the end and had a few balls whizzing across our box, but Nico missed a sitter too ( The header) and we had a few half chances. A draw was probably fair.

Do they care about the club? I don’t want a “tedious love in”. I just want some understanding. It’s easy to be a happy fan when your team is winning 4 PLs on the trot. We’re having a relatively bad time (for us) but there are genuine reasons for the current situation & fans should be less vitriolic

Of course I recognise our struggles this season,and of course I love what I've watched in our recent glory years,but it's true,you're only as good as your next game,it's a simple fact of competitive sport,I don't expect us or any team to win every week,but I expect better than what I'm watching, which is nothing short of pathetic, I'm not entitled, I was at Wycombe and Chesterfield, Lincoln and Northampton, it doesn't matter,I went to watch my team with my mates,still do,but if my club now wants to be the among the biggest in the world and charge fans accordingly I'll fuckin moan at the rubbish I've watched this season! Up the Blues.
 
Over the last few years, we have gone from having a luxury of midfielders, to only having Rodri.

Gundog and KDB are too old to play that role, so we are left with youngsters.

I can understand a subconscious lack of motivation, given what they achieved last season and the one before in particular, but now lack of aggression, energy and passion is worrying. I hope I’m wrong, but the maybe the problem is Pep. No longer able to motivate the team? Odd selects? All managers have a shelf life.

The guy who would see those runs and have the talent to make thise passes is sitting on the bench. I know KDB has list some pace but I believe Haaland and Marmoush would love him on the pitch.

Critiquing the game after it’s finished is one thing - we weren’t great today and there are a lot of things missing from the team/squad… but being like that while play is going on in the ground is for cunts.

Fucking reign it in you moaning fuckers!

Now is the time to have your moan, here is the place to do it, don’t fucking get on the backs of the young lads, inexperienced players and new signings IN THE GROUND! That’s the fucking last thing they need.

And just because they aren’t providing us with great football and 4-0 wins, don’t just sit in silence waiting for it to happen… be proactive in the stands and get behind the team. And stop fucking moaning a
