Brighton and Hove Albion PL (H) | Post Match Thread

I'v heard all this shit before, flappers getting cold feet, cant see anything but dooom. We were exactly the same when he came to our club, tiki taka wont work, he cant compete in the PL.... by that Leicester and Everton games I was ready for him to go.... Anyway we stuck with him and the club was on fire after that. For me its wait and see this time. I am not going to start flapping yet, it was embarrassing last time.
Pep evolves teams, give it time before you cut your nose off. It does not happen over night or even in 1/2 season.

New players will come good, team will be more cohesive.

" Back where we" were we will never reach those heights in our lifetime!

Now reach the heights of competing for trophies leagues I would hope so, maybe a league title every 4/5/6 years maybe? Maybe if we are really lucky a trophy every 1/2 years?! Remember the Pelegrini era where he won the league then struggled not with the next manager after pep that could be us again!

Look at Liverpool rags Chelsea and Arsenal they've never had so many memories of record breaking seasons!

Just think Fans expectations need to drop drastically or we will be following all the other clubs in sacking managers continually!

My expectations for next season is top four hopefully a trophy and to compete as long as possible through the season! Now if some fans think we buy 3 quality players in the summer and expect to win the league or carry on as before then they'll be disappointed...
 
we need new players but we had quite a few recently. Kova, Doku, Phillips, Nunes.

I would say we need zero new transfers that are on this level only!!!
and this is big part of the issues that these players replaced others who were levels above them.

if Liverpool replaces van Dijk with a mediocre CB and Salah with a winger with zero end product, what do you think will happen to them?

Yep Brighton should have won and if we took our chances we could have difference is if we lost that's football! Don't moan cry because we not the team that won it all dominate and forget that this season is a tough one for a reason if you can't see that you never be happy and be moaning for the next few years to we start at least to compete! Seems some fans want to win it all every season or they going to cry like a baby!

I dont see that as a problem. We won a lot of stuff with players like sterling, Zinchenko. Sane hasnt been what he was at ours, Jesus, quite a few at that level. Its about getting the team playing together rather than the players not being the best. Of coourse we had Silva, and Kevin, all those players that dragged us through and I would like to see a replacement for Kevin, he has been irreplaceable so far.

The league has improved last 2 years drastically a lot of teams have quality players a lot of teams now can pass out from the back under severe pressing!
 
Weird game that was brightons 1 and 2 touch passing was really good at times and broke our press with ease. But at times we looked really good going forward when we broke their press. It's a good job haaland scores goals because ATM he brings absolutely nothing else doesn't press can't hold the ball up not making runs in behind anymore. We are still desperate for more legs in the middle but it needs to come with control. 2 out and out wingers with 2 up top really doesn't help the 2 pedestrians in midfield. Lewis and possibly Gvardiol could do with taking out of the firing line atm as their distribution is woefull atm. I'd like to see us getting our full backs up the pitch and overlapping the wingers giving us time to get players in the box could work with a double pivot. Thought gundo probably our best player yesterday.

You just know they'll sign MBeumo if Salah decides to go.

Those City signings make depressing reading. No wonder we're struggling in midfield.

We concede the same type of goal every week, but do nothing to change it. 5ft 3 defenders shouldn't mark 6ft 2 centre halves at corners, full backs both caught up the pitch when opponents break, forwards make a run, but midfielders check and play a five yard pass instead. Same thing all season

this is not a case of evolution. Given the number of players required it's revolution

Agree with this.

I think Pep is evaluating what he's got and there will obviously be more changes as he builds another team.

I luv Pep and hope he stays for a long time yet. He's the best around and i'm sure he'll get it right, but i just think he's been too stubborn and inflexible this season hoping things would just click again, but it hasn't and it's cost us.

It’s baffling how we don’t play as a team. There are huge gaps between the lines everywhere. How Pep has let this happen and not fixed it is really poor.
Watching psg and atletico in the champions league. They are a formation. Theres no gaps. They attack and defend as a team like we used to. It makes it so much easier. We’re just a shambles.
