Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

There is always an alternative. For me we just needed more bodies in midfield and defence. We are 1-0 up, it’s 70 mins in and we still have 8 players at one point in the last quarter of the pitch. We lose the ball and we are in trouble. Why? Why have we got so many players bombing forward in a game that we just need to win. We have 20 minutes to see out. If we have to put 4 players on who will just pack the defence and midfield. I don’t care who they are. Just doing something,

It was coming their goal and we just did nothing about it at all.
I honestly think we’ve played that way for so long and won virtually every game that it’s institutional,
What worries me is pep not changing it.
Everyone can see Kev is done walker is finished and one or two just ain’t good enough.
Added to the fact we’re not getting rodders back anytime soon plus our first teamers constantly getting no recovery time while they are injured makes a very worrying picture this season.
Sure we may go on a great run but I really can’t see it.
Teams have now seen how to beat us so all play the waiting game of our out of form players run themselves into the ground
And fade away after 45 mins.
Pep now has his biggest challenge to date.
Does he change it and not throw everyone forward conserve energy or carry on the way we are because it’s no longer just the arse and dippers giving us a game it’s everyone.

Never been so depressed since 1997 in my years supporting this team. I suppose we are spoilt after winning the first ever authentic treble by an English club and four titles in a row, but it's still depressing.

I remember the rags in 96/97 had a similar run which consisted of 5-0 against Newcastle, 6-3 against Southampton, 1-0 against Fenerbache and then a loss against Chelsea in the league, only to win the title, so I am clinging onto some sort of hope we will get ourselves sorted and we do have an autumn allergy anyway.
I remember that season.

I think most of us had the feeling we'd lose before the game. Even when we went 1-0 up I still thought we'd lose. If we could have got the second goal when we were on top I would have still been worried I but thought we may get a draw.

This team peaked ( Obviously) in the treble season and we needed to start strengthening then. We had great players but they weren't getting any younger. Our recruitment lately has been poor. Nunes is trying his best but is a level below our standard. Savinho ( Yes I know he's young) is flattering to deceive. Doku the same. We won't even mention Phillips.

Partway through the second half I had to nip to the shops before they closed. We were still 1-0 up but the writing was on the wall. I came back and we were losing 2-1. I was gutted but not surprised and that is the worst part about it. Every game atm is predictable. On top, usually score, fail to increase that lead then fall apart. Rinse and repeat. I've just watched their goals back and the defending is absolutely shocking, particularly the first goal. Lewis lay on the floor, players with weak challenges. It just needed somebody to take charge and boot the fucking ball into row z. The second goal was equally abysmal. As usual easy to play through and he's one on one with Eddie.

I've no idea where we go from here or where the next win is coming from. For once I'm fucking delighted we have an international break. Every single one of our players needs to stay at home. We desperately need all our key experienced players back but sadly, even then, I don't expect a great improvement.

Bizarrely if Liverpool and Arsenal drop points we're still in it, but in our heart of hearts I think we all know this season it is going to be a step too far. The club is at a crossroads and everything hinges on these fucking charges. We hopefully come out of them unscathed and strengthen with the fresh top quality the squad desperately need.

Even if we are freed not guilty from these fucking charges they would have served their purpose in stopping us winning big this season. It has to affect the players. Sure they’re not at their peak etc etc but mentally these bastard charges are hanging over us all. Especially the players.

They also change coaches a fair bit but their quality remains high.
Lets not overdo it. Brighton are an average mid table team who bumped into an out of sorts, disjointed injury ravaged football team there for the taking.

Seems to me when we lose a game the number of negative posts on here goes ballistic.
Some people can't wait to slag the team off, totally ignoring the fantastic success we've had in recent years.
We're going through a bad patch but never right us off.
Long way to go, keep the faith.

Ermm we've lost 4 on the trot

And defending!

Ake, Akanji, Dias and Stones are our strongest back 4 so no I disagree. Yes put Josep in there too of course. I'm not disagreeing about Gundog etc at all I've been massively underwhelmed when he came back from the off

Problem, 2 of those 4 are injury prone and can’t stay fit for a lengthy time. Ake and Stones can’t stay fit. Now Dias is having repeated knocks. That is our strongest back 4 problem is will we ever see it. With their issues

absolute bollocks. Can you imagine Berno saying to Pep in the dressing room, "hey boss I'm having bad vibes everytime there number 15 and number 5 stand next to each other.

I don't mind us getting rid of Alverez like Jesus before him, but a replacement would of been a good idea. After the 100 million splashed on Grealish we now seem hell bent on buying stocking fillers only.
It is getting the correct one in is the sticking point. Kyogo would have been decent signingbut again it wouldn't have really solved any ongoing issues.

We've coped well but I think now the result is imminent it's taking a toll on the whole club.

It happens to all sides in all leagues all the time and now its our turn.

The side is just patched up with some aging players who are coming to the end of their time here.

Eventually changing the starting line up by 3-6 and more in number from match to match will tell on the performance and result.

You could make a point that we have not recruited well over the past two seasons but when you are winning titles you can understand the club are not willing to recruit as much as most supporters I would suggest would like and they have to be good ones that are capable of mixing it and winning against the best the league has to offer.

We also have Peps future and the court case hanging over the club , with injuries and fitness and fatigue with smaller numbers its no surprise we are struggling this season by out previous standards.

Clearly we need a decent transfer window or two to reset but the good news is we have the structure in place to continue a model that I think we continue to make us competitive for decades to come.

You appreciate the good more I think when you go through some rough patches and this season looks like being one of those.

Most sides would clearly like to be in our shoes.
