Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I don't know, I just feel alright about it. I'm certainly not here to lecture anyone who is upset or disappointed by the way we've been playing this season, especially because I have felt exactly the same in other recent bad patches of form, but something feels different to me this time. It's 50 per cent the feeling that we might still win the league anyway and 50 per cent the feeling that maybe we were overdue a shit season to really reignite things. We're currently enduring shit seasons at no more than half the rate of any other club in England.

Last time we had a shit season we went on to win four league titles in a row, and it's still too early to say that this season will definitely be another shit season. Or maybe I've just been spoiled by the team's endless wins and am fully prepared for a bad spell.

I can't really articulate it but this time, even though it is literally the first time Pep has ever lost four matches in a row, I've found it easier than ever before to just brush off a City loss and move on with my day. For most of my life a City loss would ruin my weekend. As you can imagine, it made Sunday school in the early noughties very difficult.

Again, I'm not trying to belittle or criticise anyone who is complaining or be a 'happy clapper' or anything like that, I can only say how I feel, which is that for me personally I'm not too worried. I think Pep will work it out, we'll end the season no lower than second in the league and that we'll ultimately still have a much better time than at least 75 of the other fanbases in the top four leagues. It'll be alright on the night, essentially.
So one of our younger supporters who has a sensible head on his (or hers) shoulders, very good post, you've assessed the situation perfectly and most of us FOC's can empathise with your POV (I think!).

Stop overreacting we are only 5 points from top and everyone is talking like we are entitled to win every game. If not then Pep should be sacked and players let go? We literally dominated the league for years a dip in form was predictable, add tiredness and injuries and yhis is where we are.

We will bounce back, show some faith in the manager and back your team. The players are simply tired and over worked.

That is a very elaborate way of making your point and I agree. I had already written off the league at this point in that season and be were we in for a treat. This forum is all about people having fights about hyperbole with emotion involved. CTID.

Never been so depressed since 1997 in my years supporting this team. I suppose we are spoilt after winning the first ever authentic treble by an English club and four titles in a row, but it's still depressing.

I remember the rags in 96/97 had a similar run which consisted of 5-0 against Newcastle, 6-3 against Southampton, 1-0 against Fenerbache and then a loss against Chelsea in the league, only to win the title, so I am clinging onto some sort of hope we will get ourselves sorted and we do have an autumn allergy anyway.

Indeed, look at that barren run the rags went through in 1996/97 that I just mentioned in my previous post.

Brighton use a "moneyball" kind of acquisition system, it's what their Chairman uses in his betting business using clever algorithms and data, he's a snake but an extremely clever reptile.

Brighton are not Europe centric when it comes to signing players as we're not but they do seem to find some gems at relatively low transfer fees and they've sold players at seriously significantly good money, they've invested well and have a decent squad.

They also change coaches a fair bit but their quality remains high.

Jeez, get a grip of yourselves.
We’re paying the price for 5 or 6 years of high intensity, high pressure and high quality football, which has burnt some players out physically and mentally, they’re breaking down.
It’s not great to watch, but to read some of the Pep and player criticism on here is laughable.
We’re not entitled, no team can keep up the intensity we have played at with all the key injuries and, it might be a dissapointing season, so wind your necks in, nobody on here is qualified to criticise Pep, signings or non signings, stick to your day jobs and get behind them, or feck off.
Get the injured players back. Buy a DM player and a full back in January and we will be fine. Hopefully this international break will help those injured be able to recover and train and ready to go against Spurs. It maybe tough until January but as well as being able to buy we should have Bobb back in Jan/ Feb an we have a lad from Argentina joining us in Jan as well.

Seems to me when we lose a game the number of negative posts on here goes ballistic.
Some people can't wait to slag the team off, totally ignoring the fantastic success we've had in recent years.
We're going through a bad patch but never right us off.
Long way to go, keep the faith.

I wouldn't call Julian Alavrez prolific. There were flashes of real qualitiy but didn't seem he could nail a regular place although he could be a useful squad player. He is not quite clicking at Atletico Madrid.
I don't mind us getting rid of Alverez like Jesus before him, but a replacement would of been a good idea. After the 100 million splashed on Grealish we now seem hell bent on buying stocking fillers only.

This is about where I am too. It seems as I get older, I am less prone to letting them ruin a weekend for me. I was pissed off for a few minutes after, and quickly moved on with my day. Pep will sort it. Or he won’t. Either way the world will keep turning.
