Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Not many positives to take from that - although Simpson-Pusey wasn't that bad.
I'm not trying to hang him out to dry, but in this current team Erling is a luxury we can ill afford - not his fault at all btw - he spent more time pointing around second half than anything else. If we can't get the ball to him he may as well not be there.
That midfield should never start together again, and much as it pains me after his contributions Ilky has to be sat down.
At the moment I couldn't pick an XI to guarantee a win I'm afraid.
But I expect a reaction after the break - it's what we do these days!!!

Lost that fear factor and incapable of controlling games, or even putting in a strong defensive display if teams attack.

Diabolical second half. No shots on target in the second half, 9 minutes of casually dicking around like we're 5-0 up instead of trying to rescue a point. Team look like they don't give a shit at the minute.

I expected a hammering in truth, it wasn't but that was somehow even worse because Brighton themselves were miles off it and looked to be handing us 3 points on a plate only for us to capitulate. They were much better than that against the dippers and still lost twice to them in a week.

We might only be 5 points adrift, nowhere near an insurmountable deficit, especially at this stage. but the one thing people aren't factoring in is that we've had an extremely kind fixture schedule until now, we've played just 2 of the traditional big 6, we've got a heavy fixture list over the next 2 months, we're currenrly getting torn apart by bang average sides, a top side will annihilate us.

Injuries aren't solely responsible for this, it's a tactical issue that Pep has shown no signs of looking to fix and so this will continue throughout the season.
Difficult to disagree. In the ideal world we would revert to possession football and simply have the technical players exhaust teams to death. Alas, even with all players fit, I’m no longer sure we have enough of such players to do that. Other teams will sail into rough waters as the season progresses, but we currently look a little rudderless.

Kinda sucks how all these injuries just completely ruin the season.

I was so looking forward to Oscar Bobb, he was looking so good in pre season.

I’d argue that back line we put out today is comfortably better than half of the leagues on paper.
Not performing as they should. Both Dias and Stones are our best defendersand both Ake and Akanji are good back up players who are not fit.

Meh, we will be a lot better after the break. The Bournemouth performance, getting spanked by a Sporting side we should have seen off in the first 30 minutes to fuel the media wankfest for Amorim did hurt and were a bit annoying, but today we played decent against a very good side away with several players out.

The squad has been managed terribly in the last couple of years but we already knew that. Title might be a step too far this season but we aren't a million miles away either. I'd actually prefer us to lose these games rather continuing to paper over the cracks. Viana needs to see that we can't go into next season relying on Gundo, Bernie, Walker and KdB with another year in their legs.

We will be fine

As it stands, we need to strengthen the squad regardless of Peps future

I'm done with this team

Absolutely disgraceful stuff. Can't even do the basics right. Developed a weak mentality and can't hang onto a lead. Only a few players are doing their job but we've become bottle jobs!!!

Pep is a spent force. In reality, most managers get a good 10-15 year run if they're a top manager and that's their lot. Pep is probably there now.

Without Haalands goals we would be bottom half. And nobody can say we would play differently and players would make up the goals if he didn't play because they wouldn't, they're all performing shite. Haaland should be looking for his move away.

Every dog has its day and we have. We'll be pretty much on the same downward spiral the rags have been for 10 years.

But that's football. You can dominate forever. English football history tells us that.

I've had a great 3 years supporting city, since 2021 because I wanted to support Grealish but I've lost hope.

Well done Brighton. Great spirit. Definitely a team I might align myself with.
I see what you're doing here ;)

Unfortunately there are some on here that won't.
